I just watched the ridiulously stupid comedy BOAT TRIP (2002). Not only was the entire piece an unfunny gay cliche, but Roger Moore was so miscast, I could not help but cringe. I kept wondering, "What the hell was this man thinking?"

Given that he wasn't playing 007, should you have been quite so worried about the impact on your perception of Bond.

I saw Sir Roger in Spice World, wearing old Bond constumes and playing with a variety of exotic pets while spouting aphorisms to Richard E. Grant over a speaker phone.

In ffolkes and the Quest he had a beard, and wasn't acting much like Bond in either.

How could he do this to me?!

What was he thinking?

A: "$$" (and a bit of fun).

In ALIAS he was playing a villain. Several times! So wrong...

He´s really not afraid to do anything. Exactly what I imagine Bond to be.

You've got to be a steadfast character alone for wearing that colour shirt. Blowing the sausage is nothing in comaprison. Fleming's Bond would have smoked it. Flaming's too, with a little ganja...

EDIT: I just see I wrote "comaprison". Time to go to the festivities...

HAHA this doesn't change anything to me about the Bond films, this just goes to show how funny Roger Moore truly is. Didn't Moore suggest Cuba Gooding Jr. as the next Bond?

He also recommended Hugh Grant.

Pay no attention to Moore's suggestions for Bond actors. He'll say anything to get a rise out of people (every time he takes a good-natured shot at his long-time friend Sean Connery, someone in the media misinterprets a second-hand report and tries to make Moore out to be a pompous [censored]).

Sir Roger is and will always be wonderful, charming and funny - because he does not take himself seriously at all. So many could learn from him.

I hated that movie, as well. But I must admit that he was one of the better aspects of "BOAT TRIP".

That's just like when Pierce Brosnan had recommended Colin Salmon (Charles Robinson) to play Bond. I just can't see it.

It's odd. I don't like seeing Moore outside his traditional Bond character. On the other hand, Timothy Dalton is pretty darn good in a lot of the lighter roles he does (Chuck and Hot Fuzz come to mind).

Roger Moore always will be an unshakeable image of James Bond, encompassing the fun and charm of a 'suave Englishman' with a deadly side to match. Moore is always the first person you think of relating to Bond as a suave and sophisticated Brit, regardless of if you're a fan of him in the role or not.

Some of the roles he's done in his later years aren't the best, but again they're not 'Roger Moore' movies, they are simply generic comedies or indie films that he simply must support the talent behind the camera to lend his hand to the role he's in. He's not in it for awards or critical acclaim, but I think he just enjoys having fun in his older years, and he's doing no wrong by that and in NO way will he tarnish anything he's done before, or in the future.

He's a one in a million, and the amount of passion he has for the Bond franchise, cinema in general and his dedicated chartiy work outside the media is something that I think no-one can falter. He's paid millions of pounds to act in big screen roles, but he doubles that amount in what he gives back to us as fans, cinema goers and supporters of good causes.

He makes us laugh, wince, groan but most of all simply chuckle away at his numerous film and TV roles, and if he's frownded upon for being a little bit 'cheesy' at times, then god help us if we're not all 'cheesy' in our day-to-day lives, but at least Sir Roger knows how to enjoy his life and the work he's done so far!

Hoorah for Sir Rog!

Brosnan is the first image that will always pop in my head when I think anything Bond-related, sorry.

Also, while I think the movie "Boat Trip" was terrible, Moore did a wonderful job and I thought he was quite funny.

This specific clip which has been edited isn't so attractive because they do a extreme close-up in the reply, but I imagine the movie isn't so bad. What does Roger say sausages are called in England? Baguettes?
