I've not heard Moore's FYEO commentary yet. Will some kind soul please tell me what he thinks of the film?

As for the other films,

TSWLM is his favorite.
LALD is his second favorite.
TMWTGG he thinks is a good film.
OCT is better than he remembers. Which is odd because I distinctly remember him telling reporters in '83 that this was his second favorite.
MR: my memory is fuzzy here but I believe he said that he doesn't care for science fiction films but this is well done of its kind.
FYEO: going by Freemo's post elsewhere I suspect it belongs here but I may be wrong!
AVTAK is his least favorite.

Damn near mine ironically! I'd personally rank FYEO much higher of course but, other than that, I'd have to agree with Sir Roger!

I haven't heard any of his commentaries. All I know about FYEO is that Moore really disliked the scene where he kicked the car off the cliff. He felt it was Fleming's Bond in that scene, but it wasn't his Bond.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Roger actually ranked 'FYEO' as his best Bond film...? I'll try get that link here, but can't remember where I saw it a few times.

Did anybody get the Sir Roger book "Bond on Bond" yet? That will surely help clear this up.

Sadly, it's not out until 4th October, here in the UK at least, which is a shame!

We'll have to revisit this thread in October for the verdict from Moore once and for all!

Pre-order. It's delivered at the date of release IIRC.

EDIT: Yes, see here

Ah, they changed it. For a while it was already to be sent out within a few days.

Yes, Amazon frequently does that; also possible they switch back or that some orders will indeed be shipping early. All a bit mysterious, most likely a question of logistics one assumes.

Or just plain whim...

I like that he has different thoughts on his Bonds than the general Bond public.

I truly enjoy Sir Rogers commentaries. It's so nice that he agreed to do those since he is a great storyteller and clearly has deep respect for both Bond and to most of the people he has ever work with. Not my favourite Bond, but definetely the classiest bloke of all Bond actors!

I could have sworn I heard him say LALD was his favorite because it was his first one...or maybe that was just the one he had the most fun making, I don't know..

I think that summerises the problem with the Bond movies of the 70s & 80s pretty well.

ETA: A similar line was taken by Dalton when he wanted Bond to sleep with only one woman per-film as thought Bond was somehow responsible for the spread of AIDS....

It should be a rule of thumb that Fleming's Bond is always the most interesting and thrilling - update, tone down or soften up Bond at your peril.

I thought FYEO was higher up there on the list, I'm very surprised. I can't wait for 'BOND ON BOND' it might very much tell us differently or more clearly I suppose.

I can only remember the comments he'd said about and during the making of Octopussy. He took exception to the script because all of the hype & anxiety over the release of NSNA later that year. In his own words, he said he'd gone out of his way to play Bond "over-the-top".

This is actually a pretty damn good ranking.

I'm think he stated in his book, he was against kicking the car for reasons you've said, but in the end he agreed the director was right.

I seem to remember him writing in My Word is my Bond that he feels Moonraker is too 'farfetched', which I can agree with.
