So, nothing much was talked about here, but there's a few lovely little tidbits available. Not spoiler worthy, but...
  • We're into the final week of shooting.
  • Skyfall will be longer than Quantum of Solace! Wilson said that it's aiming for being around 2 hours or longer.

Good! My main concern was the running time, This could easily be longer than Casino Royale.

Brilliant...people said 'CR' was too long, and 'QOS' was too short...so it seems 'SF' will be the perfect length for those nit-pickers! The more Bond though in my opinion, the better! :)

Why not just go back to the trusted 2 hour running time? If it's too long, people moan. If it's too short, people aren't happy!

PS - Erm, I just had a chuckle reading my post back to myself. Sound familiar, guys? ;o)

I guess it's what you do with it then! :)

Like the 125-130min (aprox) runtime, but don't have a problem if it's longer either (both OHMSS/CR are a couple of my favourites in the series). I guess with Stuart Baird is back it might be longer (and hopefully be more coherently edited) again.

I hope it doesn't go much longer than 2 hours. It's a spy thriller not an epic. Also, it it's too long it will badly affect its Box Office performance.

I agree, I don't want it to out-stay it's welcome. But have you seen the top world-wide grossing films ever? Many of these are 2 hours and then some!

I think a Bond movie should always be around 2 hrs 5, but the critics sometimes say that the Bond finales drag on too long.

He will be on Newsnight, at 10.30 - the EPG on my tv says "What does James Bond reveal about Britishness?".

It's funny that Quantum is a good forty minutes shorter than Casino Royale but the pacing of Casino Royale is much better.

My opinion, of course.

I think just over 2 hours is the perfect runtime for Bond. Let's say 2 hours and 10 minutes. That way Bond is on the screen for 2 hours and the other 10 minutes is made up by the title sequence and end credits.

Watching on Sky+ now. A very interesting and informed report. Not just MGE, but William Boyd (talking about his new novel), former genuine SIS officers, Jack White, Alex Rider's Horowitz etc. There's some (new?) shots from the Turkish market. It's more about Bond as a whole - is he still relevant? Why he's still popular etc. but there are parts on Skyfall.

The report is about 15 minutes

I’ve posted some links in the “footage” thread in the spoiler section if anyone wants to watch this on-line.

EDIT: For anyone worried about searching about in the spoiler section, I’ll put the post here too.
The links contain mild visual spoilers in the form of behind the scenes location work in Turkey.

Interesting report, with some flashes of new B-roll. It's more about Bond in general than Skyfall.

The feature is from last night’s Newsnight – here is a link to the whole program, it’s towards the end and has an in-studio discussion about Bond’s lasting appeal too.

No it won't. Length of films usually impact little on box office, despite the maths. Casino Royale is the highest grossing Bond film and also the longest. Avatar, Titanic, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Carribbean 2, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Harry Potter 7.2 are all in the top 10 grossing movies of all time and are all upwards of 150 minutes.

It's funny that Quantum is a good forty minutes shorter than Casino Royale but the pacing of Casino Royale is much better.

I don't think good pacing is usually associated with shorter films. Shorter films can become too convoluted or too fast. Long films can become too tiresome, plodding. Good pace is about getting the runtime to reflect the length the story deserves.
