Hypothetically:

What if after Craig's films, any of the official past Bond actors were given an opportunity to come back, and star in a variation of a Bond film (Bond is asked to return for a smaller mission, written to fit the actor's age, not quite as physical, etc.) to have one last go 'round at it, one last film, what Bond actor would you like to see return to the role?

My choice would be Dalton, without question.

To delve further into the idea behind the thread, I'd love to see them bring Dalton back for a film much in the style of Licence To Kill, but perhaps even grittier. Maybe have David Fincher helm the project and really allow Dalton to shine in a truly serious take on the character of Bond.

I can't help but to agree I think.. I also think Fincher would be a good choice as well for the approach.
Quite honestly, Dalton would be my first choice too. It was toss up between him or Lazenby for me, but I think you've sold me on your idea!

I also think that Dalton would be the best candidate for the whole aging spy thing at this point anyway. He still looks remarkably good for his age, and he even looked at times during his guest star turn on NBC's Chuck like he could have stepped right back into the tux and reprised the part of Bond even now at his age. No doubt, his turn on Chuck will be the closest we get to seeing him in a Bond-like role, but if the opportunity were to somehow present itself, I have no doubt that Dalton could step right back in to the role of Bond and knock it out of the park.

Exactly! I think that's why I'd choose Dalton over any other really. Besides that, I feel like Dalton being the actor he is, could do it very well too. He has a certain quality about him that'll always feel Bond-ish in my opinion, even as he ages and accepts more and more roles. Plus, more Dalton Bond would always sound good to me, aging spy or not!
I could easily see this working.

I would have liked to have seen George Lazenby do FYEO (loved him in the Return of the Man From Uncle), and I could see Dalton as any number of Gardner's villains, especially David Dragonpol.

Let Sean and Roger enjoy their retirements, and I think Pierce would only come back in a NSNA-styled romp where he got to take the piss out of the role.

(BTW, well done with the lower case, Alec - it may be a drudge, but you'll get used to it.)

I believe you're right here, plus, I don't think Pierce would come back whole-heartily considering what the proposed idea would be...
Just as you said 'take the piss out of the role' type.

Hey, I'm a team-player after all, if members found it annoying, I decided it'd be best to stop.
No matter my habits, I have no interests in troubling anybody on the only forum I'm a part of! (Proudly, I might add.)

I'm with Trevalyn and tdalton on having Dalton back for one more. Fincher would be great too, he certainly knows how to make a film very gritty thats for sure.

Moore would be great with his passion for the series and I could see him doing a spoof-Bond short maybe, but for serious acting I'd also think Dalton and Brosnan would be able to deliver.

Nice idea.
