Barbara Broccoli, in an interview from years back, said she would be OK with a Canadian actor playing Bond. (Wish I could cite this but I can't recall where I read it).

The 3rd Dalton 007 film comes back again to haunt us, that is pretty cool for Canadians though. The unmade third Dalton film allegedly considered Vancouver as a location.

Was the beginning of TSWLM filmed on Baffin Island? Damn, I hope Bond goes to Toronto sometime! Sorry for my overreaction, my Canadian-ness is getting overly excited at the connections between Bond and Canada!

James Bond gadgets and props headed to Toronto
Costumes, gadgets, props and photographs from the James Bond movie franchise will be part of a new exhibit bound for Toronto this fall.
TIFF Bell Lightbox says "Designing 007 -- Fifty Years of Bond Style" will celebrate the British spy's 50th anniversary.
Highlights include the steel teeth worn by Richard (Jaws) Kiel in 1997's "The Spy Who Loved Me," storyboards for 1971's "Diamonds are Forever," the overcoat worn by Sean Connery in 1962's "Dr. No" and multiple gadgets from Q Branch including the attache case given to Bond in 1963's "From Russia With Love."
The 007 franchise is the longest running in film history with 22 films produced since 1962. The next instalment, "Skyfall," is due for release in October.
The new exhibit is set to run Oct. 26 to Jan. 20, 2013.
"This in-depth examination of one of the most significant film and cultural icons of all time will offer new and familiar visitors an unprecedented look at the cutting-edge design and decor of the Bond legacy, charting its influence on contemporary society and on the action genre as a whole," said TIFF Bell Lightbox artistic director Noah Cowan.

Wow now I'm pumped, it's relatively close to me so I"m in luck. I wonder how much it costs.
I'm wondering the same thing. I'm in the GTA, so I'm pretty close as well. When I saw this in the paper, I was so excited. Can't wait for October!

I'm in the GTA too - just north-west of Toronto. There are scarcely any big Bond-related events that grace us here, so this will be an absolute must!

According to this article Ian Fleming had a knighthood, FYEO is a novel, novels can contain short stories, and this particular novel is mostly set in Ottawa. And the 1981 film has "little reference to the original story."
If anybody can spot any other errors in this article, I'm sure it'll be our own AMC Hornet.

About fourteen months ago, Mrs. Tallon and I did a driving vacation following locations from various Bond stories in New York, New England, and Canada. The article says that Echo Lake "Is an existing lake, exactly where Fleming describes it." This is another error, I'm afraid. There are, in fact, two Echo Lakes in Vermont. One is in Plymouth, about 150 miles from Frelighsburg, and the other is in Charleston, some 55 miles away. Neither is ten and a half miles from the Canadian town, as specified in the story. There is a body of water near Enosburg Falls, Vermont in approximately (but not exactly) the place Fleming described.. It's called Lake Carmi, but the topography of the place doesn't fit the description in the story.
