I don't think you need to worry. Even based on the very little I know of Skyfall. And theres a real lack of information about this movie and its shrouded in secrecy, but following CR and QOS with an epic adventure in the tone of Spy I just cannot see happening. Spy was of its time, the Craig direction and this film may be Bond with a capital B, but not RogBond with a capital R.
Don't expect giant steel toothed henchmen, Submarine Cars, meglomaniacs with plots to take over the world, Sharks, Bevy's of beauties and all that here.
But I think a tone similar to the early Connery's might be what they are aiming for. I am thinking FRWL/TB type film.
Now that you mention QOS, I did think it really tipped the hat to TSWLM with a number of the scenes reminiscent of spy(Helpful chap, walk through the desert in tux, Pyramids show etc) that QOS tipped the hat to.
In one way through it could be similar to Spy, Skyfall could really define Craig and his era, as it did with Moore's. I think Bond will be the finished Article in this one and a professional agent, who M does not have any trust issues with(looks like the other way round on the plot sypnosis).

The original post has to be one of the dumbest I've seen in some time. Captain Tightpants' follow-up says it all. Double facepalm indeed.

Besides... we all know SF is a remake of TWINE and OCT.

@SecretAgentFan:

Ha ha, you're a great scenarist you know? They should shoot this scene and include it as a deleted scene in the DVD-Bonus of Skyfall.
By the way, I agree with you, TMWTGG was'nt that bad, and QOS neither. TMWTGG is actually one of my favourite Bond movie, and in contrary to QOS, it was really well written I think.

In response to the original poster, if the production of Skyfall has similarities to TSWLM & means it will be like it in terms of quality, then that's fantastic since TSWLM is my favorite Bond film. TSWLM also followed up TMWTGG, my least favorite Bond film & QOS is the worst Bond film since TMWTGG.

I think the relevant comparison to TSWLM is that the production team had a longer time to tailor the film to the Bond they had. TSWLM is the quintessential Moore-as-Bond film. Will SF do the same for Craig?

Still, for a massive production like QOS which had (reportedly) its "final draft" thrown out by director Marc Foster who demanded a re-write with only a few months before the threatened writers´ strike (which then happened), the film has a cohesive story.

I believe Paul Haggis' original script had a few funny ideas in it that didn't go over well with production. In the final film, Bond finds his quantum of solace by preventing Corinne from falling victim to Yusuf's honeytrap the way Vesper did. But in the original draft, Vesper had a child and Bond found his quantum of solace by protecting it (the idea was shot down before a gender was settled upon). Likewise, Haggis wrote several scenes that would have worked well in a novel, but failed horribly in a script; the Tosca scene was originally a "UN-style forum" where Bond had to keep swapping radio frequencies to follow the Quantum members' discussion, catching snatches of conversations here and there as they changed channels. Foster simply couldn't visualise it on film, which is how we ended up with the Tosca sequence (which is arguably one of the most stylish scenes in the entire franchise).

So while Foster did have the script re-written, I don't think "demanded" is the right word to describe it. There were probably other changes in addition to the ones I listed, but if they were all like that, then I'd say they ultimately made the film better.

I believe Eon was under a lot of pressure (from MGM? from Sony?) to deliver another Craig film quickly. They forgot their own history. With the exception of FRWL, an actor's second Bond film tends to be weaker (and LTK was also the victim of a writers' strike).

I've always felt Haggis to be overrated. I think he did a great job polishing CR, but then again, Fleming's story was already solid without him. QoS shows promise in the Mathis scenes (because he had already figured out who that character was), but less so with the underdeveloped villain, including his plot and his relationship with Camille. I know that pages were rewritten on the fly but the structure of the story was ill-defined, IMHO.
