Its also like in QOS when he lands without a parachute. Hope M isn't in the fire, maybe there is a tunnel to the crypt for her to escape.

There's a tunnel from the house which emerges a few metres away from it.

Video of Skyfall Lodge on fire.

Skyfall Lodge, the fictional home of James Bond is set on fire during the filming of Skyfall in Hankley Common, Surrey. This scene is when baddie Silva's (played by Javier Bardem) and his men storm the house and start to destroy it.

They're walking rather slowly for men storming the house... and most of the people there are on the other side of the camera, I'd say.

It looks more like one or perhaps two people sneaking about. No?

Is that Craig at about 19 seconds in, pointing a gun at somebody?

Pointing a gun at someone who looks like they are on their knees, is that who you mean?

A friend of mine is currently living near London. He is passionate about photography and I managed to persuade him to take a ride to Hankley Common last Saturday. Here are the pictures he took, hopefully you'll like them!

Wow! Amazing picture, Shrublands.
That doesn't look like the shell of a real DB5, of course they may have used a replica or some similar old car, but at night no one would notice the difference, in the midst of that confusion, I mean. It seems that the car remained in his position during the scene, most likely is the helicopter that crashed on the wall producing the hole then.

Weirdly, looking at the pic on MI6, I think it's a Porsche 928 with a modified back end. What do you reckon?

I never would have said they look similar, but maybe they've got away with it. I would guess that they shot it from behind: the slope of the rear screen is about the closest similarity the Porsche has to the Aston.

yes, could they have been added to make to look more like a DB5?

Well, not very, perhaps if it were engulfed in flames.

I remember there was an episode of the Saint where car stand ins were used to burn up and crash as opposed to, probably, the Volvo.

I'm sure it is common. But with the attention to detail, including the 'lichin on the false rock' (was it..?), as described by Lucy, I am surprised this is the car they are using. I am sure a false AM DB5 body could have been knocked up in an afternoon that looks a bit more like it than the Porsche.

There is of course the hearse in Dr No, which changes shape almost completely before blowing up! :)

Considering they built a beautiful replica of the BMW Z8 for TWINE when they wrecked that, I guess this must be blown very much in long shot. Maybe the 'copter crashes into it or something.

Yeah, I think that's right. I don't suppose we'll be able to tell the difference if we only see it from behind.

I agree.
It looks like a Porsche 928 to me too: look at the similarity of the fenders, the front profile, the inclination of the windshield, the center jamb.
The tail has been evidently redesigned, probably the shot is taken from glimpse or behind the car while the explosion invests the manor, the helicopter and the car itself. Considering that the scene is set at night and that this car is needed only in just a couple of quick shot before it is hit by the explosion, I'd say the scene could work well. For all the other shots most likely they used a real DB5, I think noone will notice the difference on the screen.

I was just thinking the explosion seems larger then I thought it would be for just a helicopter crashing, if that is the case. There is the video of the henchman starting the fire by throwing something into the building. Then a while later it blows up.
What could have caused such a large explosion? Some type of Skyfall doomsday device?

Just the helicopter, I expect. The chap lighting the fire would have been one of Chris Corbould's special effects team, I would have thought.

I'm quite surprised we didn't get more photos of this. Since it's a pretty open area I was expecting some running photos of Craig and Dench.
