So, it's that time of year again. The Christmas countdown officially starts here! Has everyone finished their Christmas shopping?

A very Merry Christmas to you all!

The one thing I have come to like is hearing one of our local stations playing Christmas Music 24/7-I am sure every city has one-but getting to here Gene Autrey, Nat King Cole, The Carpenter's, Burl Ives, Jimmy Durante, Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin on the radio. Always a treat.

In the UK, it was always glam rock Christmas classics like Slade and Wizzard. Or pop songs like Wham's Last Christmas or Elton John's Step into Christmas.

This year I 're been mostly bombarded with the ghastly Michael Buble's vile Christmas album from every PA system unfortuantely

My favorite Christmas Songs (In no particular order):

All I want for Christmas is You-Vince Vance & The Valiants
Anything by Nat King Cole
Linus & Lucy=Vince Guaraldi Trio
Jingle Bells-Frank Sinatra
Anything by the Carpenters
Last Christmas-Wham & Taylor Swift
Any Harry Connick Jr Song
O Holy Night-Josh Groban
Wonderful Christmastime-Paul McCartney & Wings
Santa Claus is Coming to Town-Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band (RIP Clarence Clemmons; I know God gave you a saxophone once you got up to Heaven)
Jingle Bell Rock-Hall & Oats
Any Elvis Presley song
Any Trans Siberia Orchestra Song
Any Manheim Steamroller Song
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas-Bing Crosby
Frosty the Snowman-Jimmy Durante & Willy Nelson
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer-Burl Ives, Gene Autry, Dean Martin
Have a Holly Jolly Christmas-Burl Ives
Mr. Grinch-Thurl Ravenscroft
Up on the Housetop-Gene Autrey

I cant remember the rest-but I do not like Mariah Carey's All I want for Christmas is You, John Lennon's Christmas Song. Or James Taylor-I just find him boring. IMO any of the above songs playing at a Christmas party I will be happy with that.

Favorite Christmas Movies

A Christmas Carol (George C Scott & Patrick Stewart versions-Interesting fact-in the Albert Finney version Jacob Marley is played by Alec Guiness who would of course go on to his most famous role as a guiding spirit in the Original Star Wars films)
Christmas Vacation (Randy Quaid steals every scene)
A Christmas Story (I watch it 2 or 3 times when it plays on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)
Die Hard (Takes place on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. Why doesn't Spike do that for 24 hours?)
Charlie Brown Christmas-not a movie but still enjoyable after all these years
The Nativity Story-The Real reason Christmas is celebrated, the birth of Jesus Christ

Great list. I think you need to check out British Christmas songs because they've done more modern ones since, for example, 1990, and I think they are a lot more fun.

The Christmas spirit hit me today. Little later than usual. Very excited. Put some Nat King Cole on and did some work.

In my family it is a tradition to watch this every year. Best holiday movie ever. Love it.

I've been keeping away from the SKYFALL spoiler section but for some reason the first thing I thought about now was that SF could possibly be another Christmas Bond film.

Former Bond villain, actor Robert Davi has covered Frank Sinatra's "Holly & Misletoe" & if you purchase it from Amazon or itunes the proceeds go to the Salvation Army. Never knew he could sing-but its a good song & if you want to help out a good charity here's a way to help.

Yes certainly. Here are some of my favourite Christmas songs written since 1970.

Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody

Wizzard - I wish it could be Christmas every day

The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't let the bells end)

The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale of New York

Band Aid - Do they know it's Christmas?

Status Quo - It's Christmas Time

Elton John - Step into Christmas

Chris Rea - Driving Home for Christmas

The Waitresses - Christmas Wrappin'

Cyndi Lauper - Early Christmas Morning

John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War is over)

Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmastime

Jona Lewie - Stop the Cavalry

Mike Oldfield - In Dulci Jubilo

There's a few to start with. Enjoy....

So it is true: time is running relative to one's position in space/time. In my corner of the world it's still the 22nd.

Anyway, happy Crimbo to all those that already have had their stockings filled!

On this the Eve of Christmas Eve, I thought I might reflect on my best Christmas'. When I was 6-I had the best Christmas ever. That was when the Super Powers & Secret Wars toylines came out-so awesome having Spider-Man & Superman team up to stop Dr Octopus & Lex Luthor. But the one I look most fondly on was in 1997. That was the last Christmas with our full family-my great aunt & grandparents have all passed on. That one is one I will never forget as the memories of spending Christmas with them will always stay with me for the rest of my life.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!
