You think there is someone on these forums related to her?

I´m her cousin.
...
No...really, I´m not. Wouldn´t want to have her as a cousin... :D

BTW, I´ve seen her "act" in those Dacia commercials, sounded like a posh french ****. Mind you, I liked it ;)

I watched that one on youtube, too, and liked it, too. Since I 'm not her cousin either, does this make you and I related?

Since you´re Greek and I´m Portuguese, it seems that, at least economically...yes, we´re cousins as well :D ;)

I like the voice, the rest doesn't shout "exceptionnel" to me so far.

I like that her voice isn't overtly feminine - it actually reminds me of a close friend of mine - but it's difficult to judge her on a single line.

What's French for "mediocre"? Oh, wait...

Remember the blonde in CR who almost got her arm cut off by the African dude? Well, that's the kind of role this girl is suited for.

Then again, these are the people who cast Denise Richards. I hate to be one of the moaning worrywarts. Except for this girl, all the casting rumors have been quite encouraging. But if Mlle Marlohe is given a big role, I'll be nervous.

I guess bad acting tends to be masked by a foreign accent.

Well, it's a bit difficult to judge her not knowing what the point of the commercial is. She's clearly meant to be delivering a punchline, but since it's in French, it's hard to tell if she pulls it off.

I'm mainly going by her resume. There are fetuses with more acting experience. Maybe she's a wonderful undiscovered talent, but she certainly seems like a supermodel who wandered onto the set.

I don't disagree on any particular point. I still doubt she's in, and I think that if she is in, then it will not be in a major role.

Hmmm, more oddities on this rumour: the first website to publish news that Marlohe was in the film was Twitch Film. This is a Canadian-based website that, going by its Wikipedia page, specıalıses in the cult and indie film scenes. The original article appears to be based on an anonymous tip; no credit is given to whoever broke the story. It was a full week before any of the usual suspects picked up on the story, who then fed it back to Twitch Film. Reading each of the articles on marlohe's supposed involvement, they all appear to have been written off one another, and can be trached back to the original Twitch Film article.

So, here's my question: how did a website based in Canada beat every single European publication to reporting this? Why, on earth, would the story of Marlohe being cast in the film be leaked to such a highly-specıalısed website? The anonymous tipster could have sold this story to any tabloid for a nice sum; why did they need to go halfway across the world to do it, and why did they need to give it to a website that limits itself to the indie scene?

I forgot Sam Mendes directed TWINE.

Obviously I was referring to the producers, but you make a valid point. It may well be that casting is the director's bailiwick. I don't know. The Bond franchise is known to be very producer-centric.

One of the reasons I've been feeling optimistic about Mendes is that he seems to be attracting a higher caliber of actor to the Bond franchise. (All rumor, but still.) I was assuming he would also insist on a proper actress for the female lead. That's why this Marlohe rumor is so dissonant and annoying. It seems really unlikely, but until it's officially disavowed there will remain a nagging suspicion that it might be true.

What makes you think her role won't be major? I mean, we know hardly anything about the movie, or the stage of the production process. What evidence to you have to say that her role will be minor?

And... maybe, going through Bond film history... how many of our favorite Bond girls have been high caliber actresses, by the way?

If we all want 23 to be a classic Bond again - why do we suddenly care whether the Bond girl/woman at least must have a Meryl Streep-like acting talent?

That's a false dilemma, surely. I don't think it's asking too much to expect an actress with some experience in actual films. That at least reduces the likelihood of an awful, distracting train wreck of a performance. It's not as if talented actresses don't exist who aren't every bit as attractive as this random French nobody. Whatever happened to that rumor about Turkish actresses? That was much more promising than this Marlohe rubbish.

I can recall that, in the runup to "Casino Royale," one of the early bits of semi-official casting news was that Ludger Pistor had been hired to work on the film. Then, a certain segment of fandom went wild, deriding his unsuitability for a part as a Bond villain, Bond ally, villain's henchman, or anything else to do with the film. As things turned out, he had a small semi-comic role in which he was fine.

The point of this is that we shouldn't get too carried away by casting rumors until we know who actually has been cast and in what roles. For now, to quote Auric Goldfinger, "We are speculating idly."

Not me saying this:

I saw at the morning a documentary about New York on Vox (German TV channel) and they interviewed a Bulgarian model who has been auditioned for the new Bond. She said the production company contacted her model agency and she has no acting experience. She also mentioned they were interested because of her Bulgarian accent. I bet she was auditioned for the same role like Berenice Marlohe.

So this would lead me to the conclusion, that they are looking for a model, who just has to play herself - an eastern model, which shouldn't be too difficult. Sounds like a rather small role, because for everything bigger, you WOULD need acting experience.

Everyone has been assuming that Harris will be Moneypenny, so even the hypothetical racists among us have had no reason to imagine that she and Craig would be locking lips. (I assume you're referring to Naomie Harris, rather than issuing an utter non sequitur.) I'm faintly surprised that there haven't been more rumors about black actresses in connection with this film. If it's going to be set in South Africa, then why not have a black Bond girl? It would be rather artificial not to have a black Bond girl.

Everyone has been assuming Harris will be Moneypenny because that is what has been reported, plain and simple. If that does indeed turn out to be the case, who knows how provocatively she will play the role. I'm sure it will be smarter and a little more raw (as opposed to the fun, but pun and cliche filled scenes of the past) to fit within today's culture and current direction of the films.

Also while I see you're point about if the film takes place in South Africa it would only make sense to cast black actress, it isn't something that is necessary. We don't know how much or in what context the film takes place in South Africa. Also, not everyone in South Africa was born there or is even African. If they do go that route though, that's perfectly fine as there are plenty of beautiful and talented black actresses out there.

I'm not being racist here, but just because it's South Africa, that doesn't mean that one should cast a black actress. There are hundreds of white south africans. In fact, I know dozens of south africans and for some reason I've never met a black saffa. The first time I ever saw any saw in the World Cup last year, and that's not even in person. Yes, they could have a black south african actress, but they could easily have a white one as well, and that would be just as representative.

Yeah, there are white south Africans. There are also blondes in China. It just seems a little strange that Bond would find a white woman wherever he goes.

In the beginning, it was reported that Harris might be the next Bond girl. Then fans began commenting that she would make a "great Moneypenny", instead of the movie's leading lady. The rumors eventually evolved into Harris being offered the role of Moneypenny. I agree that if the movie is set in South Africa, why not have a black leading lady? How cowardly on EON's part.

Doesn't excite me. If you're going to have eye candy, make sure it's candy - not wannabe candy. If you need an actress, hire an actress.
