If somebody could bring this together as an album, I'd buy it. EON? Listening?

I don't think "Is Something Wrong" by Alex Ford really belongs on this list, as that was merely a fan creation recorded long before "QOS" was released and hence was never under any serious consideration for usage in the film.

Thanks for the list. I had never heard that there were alternate versions for some of these songs and I've already located one of Duran Duran's demo versions of AVTAK just by going to YouTube.

Did Johnny Cash ever record his version of Moonraker? And what about Eric Clapton and Rick Astley for LICENSE REVOKED? They probably should be on the list. I'm pretty sure Clapton recorded something.

What about Quantum of Solace by Amy Winehouse?

I was hoping it would be released since there are unfortunate circumstances

They definitely should have keep "No Good About Goodbye" by Shirley Bassey for QOS, instead of White & Keys song.

P. S. This list lacks the song "Tomorrow Never Dies" by Pulp (which is a rewrite of "Tomorrow Never Lies" by the same group).

Ahhh, thanks for the heads-up about "Tomorrow Never Dies" by Pulp!

And Wade - it IS coming together as an album. I'll probably slap it online somewhere when it's done.

Didn't realise Cash had done anything for Moonraker; wasnt it supposed to be Kate Bush then Johnny Mathis? not sure if anything they worked on still exists...

This does sound like a great project; excited to see the final version!
Maybe a follow up of cover versions (post movie) would be fun to hear as well?

I'm a fan of "The Man In Black", and as far as I know, Johnny Cash didn't record anything for Moonraker. Frank Sinatra wanted to, Kate Bush was asked but declined. (Even though the finished song sounds, to me at least, as if it was written with her in mind.) Johnny Mathis may have worked on a song for the film - that's my understanding of it.

As for Johnny Cash's "Thunderball" - it really doesn't sound like a Bond theme to me, more like one of those "Songs of the Old Railroad" type ballads he recorded in the 1960s. Maybe he thought the film was about SPECTRE hijacking the "Wabash Cannonball"? :)

As for this alternate Bond theme compilation, brilliant idea. Why hadn't anyone thought of it before?

Nice project.
A few that you missed:

Shirley Bassey - Vivo per diamanti (Italian version of DAF)
John Barry - All time high extended version (B-side of single)
A-ha - The living daylights (extended version)
A-ha - The living daylights (instrumental version)
Tina Turner - Goldeneye (single version + remixes)
Luna Sea feat DJ KRUSH - Sweetest Coma Again (Japanese end titles for TWINE)
Burt Bacharach - Bond Street (unused theme from Casino Royale 1967)

I have all of these, but I'm missing Redway's and Arnau's songs and some others. Maybe we could swap? Just PM me.

Another rare find is the single version of Eric Serra's The experience of love, and there's an instrumental version too. Does anyone have these??

Extended versions and stuff, I'm not concerned about.

What's different about the single version of "Goldeneye"?

The single version is shorter and has an actual ending rather than just fading out. In fact, it's much closer to the version in the movie than what's on the soundtrack. The single version is also the one that appears on most Best of compoliations.

"Operacion Trueno" and "Operazione Tuono" by Tony Dallara (Spanish & Italian versions of Thunderball)

All three Spanish versions for Goldfinger (Karina, Los 3 Sudamericanos, Kudlip)

I've got this!

Added a few songs to the list. (If I left out the 'Ringo' version of Goldfinger... well, that just wouldn't be right, would it? :-P)

Not too interested in the foreign language ones, really. I mean, are Thunderball and DAF the only films that had alternate foreign themes? Also... "Bond Street" wasn't a CR reject, but rather, a Bacharach album track from AFTER the release of that film. Besides, the same melody appears in the film, albeit a little faster. (The fast version is, of course, Stewie's 'sexy party' song!)

Anyone know if Nina's "The More Things Change" was considered as a title song for OHMSS?

There are lots of translated Bond songs (Goldfinger in Dutch, TWINE in Turkish, Nobody does it better in Portuguese, FRWL in Hungarian...) but I think they merit a compilation album of their own. So feel free to ignore them now, because none of them were used in the films. Except:
* Ruth Berlé - Die Wolga ist weit (used as end titles for original German dub of FRWL)
* Katja Ebstein - Wovon träumt ein Weinachtsbaum in Mai (version of Do you know how Christmas trees are grown, appears in German dub of OHMSS)
* Isabelle Aubret - Savez-vous ce qu'il faut au sapin (version of Do you know how Christmas trees are grown, appears in French dub of OHMSS)
* Shirley Bassey - Vivo di diamanti (used as end titles for Italian dub of DAF)

I didn't quite understand what you're saying on 'Bond street': yes, it was on a later Bacharach record, and yes it appears in the film. So how is it not a 'CR reject'? By the way, another unused song from that film, 'Let the love come through', was recorded by Roland Shaw & his orchestra.

By the way, wasn't there an alternate mono single version of Thunderball too?

I'm not using *every* rejected piece of music - the point was to highlight rejected title themes.

I'm having to find most of these as homeless MP3's, a number of which I got from a noted Bond collector via e-mail some years back.

I was just working on this set last night.... the two studio outtakes of "A View To A Kill" actually belong BEFORE the demos (which document the writing of the final, recognizable song) - they show Duran Duran working on a *completely different* song, which is instrumental at that point, except the singer sometimes tries to wedge the film's title over it.

Don't know exactly the story about Sandra's Casino Royale (from "Art of live"), but I can't confirm if it had something to do with the film.
