A night or two ago, I came across a film on Turner Classic Movies; a silent, called Don Juan, starring John Barrymore as the title character.

Some ways into the film, I began to notice that Don Juan's mannerisms started to remind me of a certain someone... you can see for yourself, here: ;)

The verdict may, as yet, be out, but there can be no contest for me: Don Juan is Roger Moore!

Not at all... I haven't seen the film but I looked at the youtube video, and I used bing for "John Barrymore". He is the real person/actor playing Don Juan, not Don Juan's name in the movie.

I imagine Roger wouldn't mind at all being compared to the great Barrymore. There's certainly a physical resemblance, here.

When I read the subject line, I thought you might be drawing a comparison to Errol Flynn's version of Don Juan. There's a self-mockery and spirit of fun in that performance that really reminds me of Roger's Bond. Flynn's Juan is feeling the years piling up and tends to view the latest duel or seduction with a "here we go again" bemusement, but when you strike a nerve with him, watch out; he's lethal. That's Roger's Bond to me.

Interesting that the "seduction" in this clip looks a lot more like attempted rape.

I'm a big silent film fan myself and have even done some reviews of silent films. Watching a few minutes in, I can definitely see the resemblances between Barrymore and Roger. However, I hate to say that this may be the only Barrymore film that that resemblance is seen. In 1920's DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE, Barrymore plays more of a Don Knotts-type character, a very nervous young man.

Mr. Blofeld isn't saying Roger Moore played Don Juan, rather that both individuals have an uncanny resemblance in their mannerisms.
