I was noticing in From Russia with Love the Canadian chessplayer's flag appeared to be incorrect. The Union Jack was in the Canton and it appeared to be some sort of standard of the House of Windsor in the field. I know Canada is part of the Commonwealth, but the pre-maple leaf flag in mid to early 60s was not like that.
Does any one know for sure.

From the view we get of the flag in the FRWL chess game scene, one can't tell for sure if it is the Red Ensign from 1921 to 1957, or the 1957 to 1965 version used until the Canadian "flag debate" was resolved. There's a slight difference in the coat of arms featured. But, in 1963, the flag would certainly have featured the Union Flag in the canton.

I think it is the Red Ensign. Would this be correct usage of the flag? From the view we get of the flag in the FRWL chess game scene, one can't tell for sure if it is the Red Ensign from 1921 to 1957, or the 1957 to 1965 version used until the Canadian "flag debate" was resolved.
