I just finished reading, again, FYEO. And I'm struck by how great a collection of short stories it really is. The stories are suspenseful, tightly written and the characters are quite good. So, a couple of questions for discussion:
1. How come the continuation authors have, by and large, avoided short fiction? (I know Benson wrote short stories but not very many.) Legal restraints? Lack of interest? Belief that short stories wouldn't sell?
2. Is the time right in 2011 for someone over at Ian Fleming Publications to pen some serious short fiction featuring Bond?
