R.I.P John Barry.
A legend passed away.
I heard it too late but was also suprised by the so little comments. Are there any other J.B remembrance threads ?

Very sad news for me. His Bond soundtracks has been a part of my life for over forty years. There isn't a day that I'm not playing one in my car, home or mind. RIP, Mr. Barry and thank you.

For all the hardcore Barry fans on here, this interview with Barry on Desert Island Discs is well worth a listen. Apologies if linked before.

I know I'm a bit late on this, but I haven't posted on here since he died. I just wanted to say that this is a big loss to the Bond family. John Barry did so much for the series--one could arguably say he had the most impact since he gave the series its distinctive sound. Although he hadn't written a Bond score in 24 years (Has it really been that long?) his impact is still felt on the series. He will always be the Ian Fleming and Sean Connery of 007 composers. His scores were incredible in their quality and his ability to interweave his themes throughout each film and in various ways was terrific--even more so when you consider that every movie has a distinct sound of its own. That is a trait that is sorely lacking in today's films even though I greatly enjoy David Arnold's work.

John Barry helped give us the incredible James Bond Theme that we all know and love and also provided a great secondary Bond theme in 007 that unfortunately has never been played enough in the series. Ultimately, Barry was the right man at the right time for the Bond series and his work has, and will, stand the test of time. Pity he didn't win more awards. R.I.P. Mr. Barry. You were a genius and you'll be greatly missed.

The BBC reports the Classic Brit awards are posthumously honouring Barry. Well deserved.
