Good news. To be honest I'm ready for a new (and male) M, but I didnt want it to be this film. The last two film did a good job in establishing the M/Bond relationship, and why M completely trusts 007 to do the right thing and lets him break all the rules. We need to see a film now with the payoff from that, where M just sends Bond off on a mission and lets him go about it unleashed.

Agreed :D

I think Dench is good, but I hope her role is reduced this time around. And the trust talk dropped. This film should be the payoff, where Bond is given er, carte blanche. M should know what Bond is like by now. And if this is to be her last appearance, even more fitting. Just as they fully click, she's gone. CR - doubt, QoS - getting there, Bond 23 - full trust. Perhaps some transition scene acknoweldging her departure ala Desmond's Q. Or just an abrupt murder. Who knows. The end of that arc, and a fresh relationship begins with the next M.

Brilliant news. I have a feeling that Bond 23 will be her last though.

I'm fine with Dench as M, but I'd like to see less of her in Bond 23. I'm a little tired of the whole Bond-M thing. Been a bit played out.

I'm sure she won't disappoint. She and Craig work well together.

That being said, if she says the word "personal" in any sense other than "I've got some ______ business in the loo," then I'm going to be rolling my eyes in a big, wide orbit at the writing team.

I think we can be certain that the trust stuff is over with. She's going to give him his orders, maybe teach him one more lesson, and that'll be about it.

Same here.
I like her as M, so that's good news, but I'd like the character to be more boss-oriented. The previous movies showcased the way the Bond/M relationship settled, so now it's time for a good old plain "The boss sends you on a mission" thing.

As great of an actress as she is I would like the Franchise to switch it up already. No one could ever question her contribution to the series, which has been monumental. I just think its time to move on and get another M. Ive been saying Anthony Hopkins would be a great M for years, come on EON, are you listening? Anthony Hopkins for Bond 24!

While this news is not unexpected, I have to say I was kind of hoping she wouldn't be coming back.

Same here, but then again, they do work nicely together, although their banter is becoming too much expected and chiche.

I heard that the caviar, at their party, spelled J-I-M

Yes, great news. Like the Dove, I agree that Dench has been great as M. One of my favourite interviews with her about the character is when she confirmed she is playing the same person she played in the Brosnan era.

Okey for Bond23, but after, STOP please. Since The world is not enough, we see her more and more, and in Quantum of Solace, we have seen her taking her bath and removing her make-up... and now I'm affraid of seeing her in the next film, what they will show us ? :o

So please stop, I don't want to go over the top... :dizzy:
