With Bond news scarce and my Bond interest waining, I've fired back big-time into my original passion: HOUDINI!

I've had a Houdini website for 5 years, but it was tethered to that nasty iWeb and .Mac, and it could never be all that I wanted. So I've started fresh with a new site on Blogger: WILD ABOUT HARRY.

Head on over an have a look. It's a pretty hardcore blog for Houdini fanatics, but there is plenty there for everyone, I think. I've also just done some significant research in the Warner Bros. Archives and uncovered what I believe to be the first attempt by a studio to mount a Houdini biopic. It's completely unknown, until now. Working on a two-part blog about that, which will go up maybe next week.

There's also a little About Me page so you can see me in my full Houdini-Geek flower.

Enjoy!

So I'm completely obsessed with my new Houdini blog, and it's on fire. Afraid, for the time being, I'm leaving Bond behind. Tomorrow I'm going to post up something I'm very proud of. I believe I've discovered the first attempt by a Hollywood studio to make a movie based on Houdini's life. This is something that has lay undiscovered in the studio archives for over 70 years. Very exciting. :)

Here we go. RKO 589: Hollywood's first Houdini film.

Give it a read. Expand those horizons beyond James Bond to the original escape artist. :)

I recently read a bio - 'the secret life of Houdini' - very interesting. What surprised me most of all was the antagonism between him and Arthur C Doyle..if the book is even half correct I had no idea what a nutjob A C-D was! I finished the book really admiring Houdini the Man and the Act.

The Secret Life of Houdini...yeah. You'll actually find my name in that book several times. A few photo credits and a general thanks (I think). There's some VERY good stuff in there and the authors did an amazing amount of research. But I have a bit of an issue with that book. Read here if you're interested. My "bible" remains Ken Silverman's Houdini!!! The Career of Ehrich Weiss. Amazing book. But I use Secret Life as well. I'm just a bit more careful with that one.

Awesome, zen. This is terribly exciting!

Thanks macca!

Check this out! Teller of the great Penn & Teller gave my Houdini blog a recommendation tweet. This was totally unsolicited and a wonderful surprise! :)
