Hi everyone!

Just a little ditty I noticed today watching 'A View To A Kill', and last week with 'Octopussy'.

We all know and love the Lucasfilm 'Willhelm' scream that pops up in lots of movies, Star Wars and Indiana Jones to say the least, but have we all noted Roger Moore's very own scream in the latter few of his 007 movies? The "Moore" Scream?

I noticed it twice in AVTAK - 1st time when he and Zorin run the steeple-chase and Zorin raises the hedge, sending goons of their horses but Bond jumps over and rides on. Roger gives a worried look and we hear that "OhhhOHHHH!" scream.

2nd when he is hanging from the airship over San Francisco, and Scarpine flies over the skyscraper and Bond hits the ariel mast. "OhhhOHHHH!"



I am sure then also hear it during "Octopussy" but I can't pin-point when! Do you know what I mean, and can you identify any other moments in the later Moore films when this crops up?


Sorry if this is a bland topic, it's something I've always found funny; hearing Moore's scream in various situations.

I know what you are talking about, its more of an "umph" than a scream. In Octopussy it is when is is in the dead body sack and is thrown into the back of the truck.

I know the Uumph you mean, but it's not that. If you remember AVTAK when he is dragged over the ariel on the airship he makes a yelp, "OhhOHHHHH!"

It's not the jeep section in OP I'm thinking of. I heard it but can't remember what bit.

I just remember the horrible George of the Jungle scream in Octopussy. God that was awful.

I like the Tarzan yell. And the body bag zombie laugh. It all adds to the campy ambience. I don't think of it as Bond himself making the noises. I think of it as an overdub on the scenes. Sort of apart of the soundtrack, ala TMWTGG's slide whistle.

Yes, it's the same 'ooh ohh OOOOh!!' as in AVTAK; it pops up most noticably in the fight in Octopussy's palace when Bond and the assassin fall through the window into the water; where Octopussy thinks he's been eaten by crocs.

I love that sound: I once compiled a little compilation of them all from AVTAK- it's great fun! I particularly enjoy the bit where Roger is hauling himself up from underneath the pipe on the Golden Gate: it's a bit subtler but if you listen to the noises he's making it's quite funny! 'ooh uh uh ooh wuurgh'

And of course his final line as James Bond 007: 'Ha ha- ooh!'

I think in "Octopussy" it comes when he and the "killer yo-yo" guy tumble out of Octopussy's window and into the water, just before the croc attacks.

Could be wrong, though.

Anyway, I hate that sound.

I'm more familiar with his "umph" sound, which he makes during a lot of his fist fights, and of course when he's in the body bag in Octopussy.

More common was Sir Roger's "oof!", dubbed over the stuntman's action, like when Rick Sylvester's fall is halted in FYEO (they probably recorded that while Rog was bending over to tie his shoe...).
