To Coco1997 and Terminus,

This will be the "base of operations" for my adaption of Live and Let Die.

Firstly:

Pre-Title Sequence

Please give me your ideas for the Pre-Title Sequence; I have made the decision to involve Guy Haines.

I think what you need to decide is how faithful you want to be the novel and how much you're going to jettison as it's been used before. We've had a lot of the novels elements before, so I would suggest taking the story down to its core and keeping only those central elements before reconstructing the novel.

Is this going to be an actual story, or a screenplay?

It would be really interesting if it was a screenplay adaptation. Just a slyyyyy hint there. B)

Oh, I think I'll be burnt out on writing screenplay Bond after FQAC to write another Bond based script - but if if23 wants to do that, it would be awesome. Screenplay fanfic is a sadly underrated sector of fanfiction.

Isn't this supposed to be your story? And if so, don't you think you should be the one to tell it? There are people here who come up with great ideas, yes, but that doesn't mean you can't be one of them. I for one wouldn't be interested in this thread if all you're intending on doing is organising other peoples' ideas into a story. We already have a thread for that (or at least, something similar).

EDIT: if this is to be a highly-detailed version, you may want to consider posting it over here.

Firstly, It's going to be a screenplay and Terminus - I want to be as faithful as possible:

- We must keep the coral reef scene (we don't want any criticism).
- I'm tossing and turning over whether we should change the death of Mr. Big.
- I want some how for Bond to have a confrontation with Mr.Big's girlfriend,Marianne.
- Most importantly, we need to change around the Felix Leiter torture idea.
- And we need to change Tee Hee's death as it was used in Casino Royale.

BTW - thanks for accepting the help, I'm truly grateful.

Okay - if you want to be as faithful to the novel as possible, then my advice would be to give the novel a good read, mark down the major beats, locations, scenes in the story and any lines of dialogue or description that could become dialogue that you really enjoy. This will become the building blocks of your treatment - and you need to write your outline from this. Remember, you're going to have to make significant changes to the novel to make it cinematic - so you're going to need to find moments to attach extra action sequences and character moments.

Good points there, Terminus. I have decided I shall read each chapter and report back to you with comments and ideas. You can even help me by telling me whether it’s a good idea or we could extend on it. This will be shown in another thread I will create:

Here is my (so far) updated Cast:
Daniel Craig as James Bond
Claire Foy as Solitaire
Forest Whitaker as Mr. Big
Judi Dench as M
Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter
Chiwetel Ejiofor as Quarrel
Gemma Arterton as Dana (female Dexter)
Naomie Lindor as Marianne
Iain Glen as John Strangways
Djimon Hounsou as Tee Hee Johnson
Delroy Lindo as Whisper
Jim-True Frost as Mr. Halloran
Emily Blunt as Miss Moneypenny

Live and Let Die

Chapter One - The Red Carpet

Characters

Daniel Craig as James Bond
Jim-True Frost as Halloran
Gemma Arterton as Dana (This character is Dexter but female)
Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter

Thoughts

I found the first chapter interesting; we’d have to make changes - adding a pre-title sequence and a title sequence. But after M's brief I can definitely imagine:

- James Bond (Craig) walking away from the plane and meeting Halloran inside the airport, Halloran (Frost) going with Bond to the hotel, where outside Dana (Gemma) is expecting him and Dana taking him to a room, where he finds Felix Leiter (Wright).

How about it, Terminus ?

I think you need to read the whole novel and make notes as you have above. You can't study the parts individually, that would be like studying one part of a jigsaw, you need to look at the whole picture first.

"Studying one part of a jigsaw" Great analagy.

You need to have the framework for the start, middle and end; that way when you come up with a gem, or a twist, that needs to be eased into the story you can go back and fit in your clues.

Sometimes the story doesn't come in 'page' order; when you get stuck, or a piece won't fit; don't worry, it will fit into place when the time is right.
But to set a chapter in stone; limits the freedom to go with the characters.

Good luck

On the basis the two usernames use the same IP address, it's probably the same person.

True, and I am very fond of imaginative appendages.

Not exactly a Deaver-shaped twist, is it? Although, come to think of it, it might be. Hmm.

Lets get one thing straight, I'm new to CBn and I wasn't even expecting IanFleming23 to say that - have you even thought that maybe the fact that we have 23 as the end of our username is just coincidence - Anyway, I've quite happily accepted the hand-over and will have fun doing so.

So, ME and IANFLEMING23 are not the same people!

Here are the most (so far) important details on the handed-over adaption of "LALD":

Plot

Beautiful, fortune-telling Solitaire is the prisoner (and tool) of Mr Big – master of fear, artist in crime and Voodoo Baron of Death. James Bond has no time for superstition – he knows that this criminal heavy hitter is also a top Quantum operative and a real threat. More than that, after tracking him through the jazz joints of Harlem, to the everglades and on to the Caribbean, 007 has realized that Big is one of the most dangerous men that he has ever faced. And no-one, not even the mysterious Solitaire, can be sure how their battle of wills is going to end...

Main Cast/ Characters

Daniel Craig as James Bond
Claire Foy as Solitaire
Common as Mr. Big
Judi Dench as M
Forest Whitaker as Quarrel
Emily Blunt as Miss Moneypenny
Iain Glen as John Strangways
Djimon Hounsou as Tee Hee Johnson
Chiwetel Ejiofor as Whisper

It's me - LicenceRenewed23 (forgot my password) These are my character - so far - descriptions:

SOLITAIRE

Solitaire is a fictional character in the James Bond novel and film Live and Let Die. She is portrayed by Claire Foy. In the film, Solitaire first meets Bond in presence of Mr. Big. Once Solitaire has escaped from Mr. Big, she immediately becomes warm, open, and passionate towards Bond and, unlike the novel, Solitaire is British. Solitaire, throughout the movie, is unaware that Mr. Big is part of a terrorist organisation.

MR. BIG

Mr. Big is a fictional character and the main antagonist in Ian Fleming's James Bond novel Live and Let Die. He is portrayed by Common. In the film, Mr. Big has discovered, and is engaged in excavating, the treasure trove of Sir Henry Morgan in Jamaica. Smuggling the valuable gold coins into Florida, he then has his agents sell them on to unsuspecting buyers as a means of laundering the treasure. He then uses the cash from the sales to finance Quantum’s espionage machine in America. Big is a top priority member of Quantum.

LISL BAUM

Lisl Baum is a Bond girl in the James Bond film Live and Let Die. She is portrayed by Ludivine Sagnier. Lisl is the alluring companion of Mr. Big, following him wherever he goes, and is also romantically involved with him. Her name was taken from the 1960 short story “Risico”. She is first seen stepping out of the pool in a bikini while she and Mr. Big are in Florida. She is also Mr. Big’s henchwoman through the whole movie and does not switch sides to Bond. It later becomes apparent that she is also a Quantum agent.

MORE CHARACTERS SOON ..

Two things.

1) Does this project really need yet another thread?

2) Did you really need to copy the format of the first FQAC promo? Even down to the wording?

Solitaire is a fictional character of James Bond novel and film Live and Let Die. She is portrayed by Jaimie Alexander. In the film, Solitaire is a psychic in the employ of Mr. Big. However, later, she escapes Mr. Big to be with Bond. Campbell chose her because out of the 400 women who auditioned, she seemed the least nervous.
