Captain Tightpants presents ...

In association with shadowonthesun ...

BLOOD FROM A STONE

When an MI6 agent is found murdered in Eastern Europe, Vauxhall Cross is put on highest alert. James Bond is the man sent to investigate the remains of a dead Soviet spy ring, pursuing them across Europe and Asia. But waiting for him at the end of the line is an enemy like no other.

What is the connection betweem the dead agent and the mass dumping of sapphires on the Indian market? What do the Russians have to do with an insurrection deep in the jungles of Myanmar? And what is the dead agent's disturbing connection to Bond himself, a connection that could mean Bond is responsible for his death?

Teaming up with a beautiful Indian spy, Bond must brave the lonely shores of Latvia, survive the dense jungles of South-East Asia, fight his way through hellish mines and pirate ships before arriving at a shocking conclusion on the edge of the world's most ambitious engineering project - one that could save or doom an entire nation.

James Bond is about to learn that being Her Majesty's dagger can sometimes be harder than getting blood from a stone.

The prologue and the first two chapters will be going up some time tonight.

Chapter 3 was submitted last night. If you can't wait, it's over at MI6 as well.

Thank you. I take it you liked Jules, then? I realised I was slipping into exposition, with Bond asking questions important to the plot and little else. So I decided to have a bit of fun with it; Jules Foxderby came out of that little session.

Chapters four and five should be submitted some time tomorrow.

Yes, Jules was quite interesting. In some way it felt more like those briefing/exposition scenes in the Moore movies, but the Indian setting gave it a bit of a different flavour to what could have easily been another bland grey-corridor MI6 scene.

Just seen on MI6 that this story has been put on temporary hiatus, which is a shame. I was really enjoying it.

As I understand it, from what he posted on MI6, the story hadn't turned out the way he had intended it and he wants to pause writing it for a while and go back and replan it in more detail.

Aye, that's the way of it. It seems to be my biggest problem: I have this big plan in my head, but when I start writing it, it doesn't remotely resemble what I had planned. However, I'm also coming into my next teahcing prac period and I need to do a lot of work to be organised for it. Maybe it's better to put this on the back burner for another month or so.
