Is Eon behind the lack of original games?

Do you think Eon/Danjaq has put the kibosh on original storyline James Bond games? Is that why we haven't seen one since EoN (even though there was an EoN-like follow-up in the pipeline). Could is be Eon fears that a very popular original game could set expectations for the tone of the films? Sure, they could review and control the original game, but they could also just eliminate the opportunity. What if a game was better? Maybe they don't want to take that chance. So instead we get tie-in's (Quantum/Casino), spin-off's (Rogue Agent), and remakes (FRWL and GE). For anything "new," we have to wait for a movie. And wait...
But then, why allow EoN?

It is not a competition with the real filmseries.
Isn't this what every producer wants? High expectations?Could is be Eon fears that a very popular original game could set expectations for the films?

What about action and set-pieces? Some very clever stuff in EoN. I also think EoN's "casting" showed up the films. I'd take Shannon Elizabeth and Heidi Klum over Halle Berry and Denise Richards any day. And certainly Willem Dafoe over Toby Stephens.Well, who really cares about the storyline in a James-Bond-game?
It is not a competition with the real filmseries.
But I really don't think it's competition either. A game is a game and a movie is a movie and it's all good for Bond. I'm just wondering out loud if maybe Eon/Danjaq does feel like it's competition and that's why after all these years all Activsion can offer gamers is remake of GoldenEye. I'd think they'd want to do an original.

To the extent that Eon considers the games, they probably prefer tie-ins for marketing purposes, but I don't think competition really factors into this.
Maybe I'd flip this around, Zencat. When I heard about From Russia With Love, I took it as a sign of apprehension about the lack of a "Bond of record" (at the time) on the part of the game-makers. The video game industry can be just as cautious as everyone else, and having marketability (either in the form of movie game tie-ins or recognizable selling points like Connery or the "GoldenEye" label) are always pluses.

I meant that it was spin-off of James Bond -- the universe.Keep in mind that GoldenEye: Rogue Agent was an original game. It wasn't a "spinoff" of GoldenEye in any real sense.
But we might have a major development today. Check out this thread. "New Adventure Coming Soon." Could Activison have an original in the pipeline afterall? Or is this something else?

Could it be they have such a difficult time coming up with schemes and set-pieces that they simply don't want good ones wasted on games?
