I just downloaded and installed the Nightfire demo.
Each time I try to start the game, a small window appears, saying "Unable to init Direct3D" .
So, where can I get this Direct 3D?

I'm not sure what it means by Direct 3D - but do you know if you have the latest version of Dirext X?

I'm downloading DirectX 8.1 right now. Let's see if that works...

Yes, it works fine now, but I'm not too happy with the demo...

What OS are you running, gkgyver?

I had the same problem, and I am running XP. I went to the DirectX website to get it, but it said I needed to download some package thing for XP. I downloaded it, and tried running Nightfire again, with no luck, and the same message came up.

I didn't see how this package helped me get DirectX 8.1, so I resorted to downloading it off KaZaA (lol). I tried running the Nightfire demo, again with no luck.

So I deleted it and the 146MB install file off my system. Now, I think I probably stuffed up along the line, time to download the file again.

Anyone else encounter this problem?

P.S. Nightfire will be released on PS2 in Australia on the 15th of November. A day after T.E.E. exams finish. Hurrah!

I have the same probelm too.I can't fix it, I have Win 98, it has a direct 3d error some failure at step 5

Oh yeah I have DirectX 8.1 too. I need help, I WANT TO PLAY IT!!!!Oh yeah i'm 11 so explain easy.
