A loss to the world. No singer is as good in that genre than he was.

Yes, I'm broken up about it. Wearing Dio and Black Sabbath shirts since Sunday, just listening to his stuff. It's sad.

He's a dude who I never missed. If you have the Dio DVD from The Roseland NY, I'm on there. As am I on the Heaven And Hell DVD from their reunion oat Radio City.

CASINO ROYALE's "You Know My Name" wouldn't have been the same without Chris Cornell.

And Chris Cornell wouldn't have been, without Ronnie James Dio.

As somebody put it on another forum I frequent: "Now we're left on our own like a rainbow in the dark."

Now that's an interesting observation. I'm a big Soundgarden/Cornell follower and I never made the connection. It's kind of obvious once you compare vocal styles, though.

Judo, is this a personal observation or has Chris Cornell credited RJD as an influence?

Cornell talked about Dio's influence greatly back in the day. There's even a Black Sabbath documentary with him on it. If you listen to the first two Soundgarden albums you'll hear it. Check out "Jesus Christ Pose."

Chris Cornell is Dio's son.

No, not really. B)

Naw, it's just an observation. Dio started the multi-octave, angry growl, massive vibrato sound in theatrical metal music. Cornell's got a slightly different instrument to work with, but the way in which he plays it...?

There's simply no question. As you said, it's obvious. He's been influenced by RDJ one way or the other, directly or indirectly. And I would be not at all surprised to find that it was directly.

Cornell talked about Dio's influence greatly back in the day. There's even a Black Sabbath documentary with him on it. If you listen to the first two Soundgarden albums you'll hear it. Check out "Jesus Christ Pose."

And there you have it.

And I stand true to my word. I'm not surprised at all.
