12 James Bond novels were released between 1990 and 1999. Which novel of this decade do you think is the best?

Raymond Benson's High Time To Kill get the vote for me. Great plot and adventure with a unique setting and caper. Benson really broke from the formula on this one--and to great effect. His best James Bond novel and one of the three best continuation novels ever.

By the way to add an extra two cents, my choice for best John Gardner novel in the 1990s would be Death Is Forever. It's a fun, violent, action-packed thrill ride. Great stuff. It's far and away the best book from the last half of his 007 run.

I voted Seafire, great plot, cool villain, great set pieces.

But some good points made above about High Time To Kill.

Zero Minus Ten for me, followed by High Time To Kill and then Brokenclaw (what can I say? I like what I like).

Went ahead and nulled my vote, because I can't pick a clear winner. Top picks include Gardner's Never Send Flowers and SeaFire and Benson's The Facts Of Death and High Time To Kill.

No secret here, I loved High Time to Kill, next to Colonel Sun, it's my favorite continuation.

I also agree with Double-Oh on Death is Forever. It might be getting to be time to dust off the Gardner's for another read.

High Time To Kill, but there's not much to choose from.

Went for 'Facts of Death' as it's the one I enjoyed the most at the time. 'Death is Forever' I'd go for as my second pick, though. Neither are great books.

Not exactly a stellar bunch to choose from, though!

Barbarossa is very underated. Why do people hate it so much? Is it because it doesn't follow the usual Bond formula? I think it's excellent and one of the most interesting Bond novels ,although it does fall down near the end when it becomes cliched Bond stuff again.
