Sorry, but I've never even heard of Damon Albarn, Matt Bellamy or Tom Meighan. James Brown isn't so much a front man since he was mostly a solo artist. I know he had a large band behind him, but were they even well known like the E Street Band, whose members were names themselves?


No, James' band had members who often joined and departed. Just because you didn't know who they were didn't mean they were slouches (Morrissey claimed the other members of The Smiths were interchangeable). They had chops plus they had the ability to "follow" Soul Brother #1 as he often improvised his live shows.
