While doing some research in an archive of the Washington Post newspaper, I came across this small incident involving Sean Connery, months after his release of You Only Live Twice. The article is dated October 26, 1967.

Funny little tidbit; surprised it isn't better known, though...

As if he was called James Bond, too much of a coincidence.

Cool article though. B)

Well it was known at the time (I had it down as 1969) in the UK - my Daily Express clipping (sorry about the colours, but it has been glued, taped and transferred a number of times into various scrap books over the years).

sorry it's only a link, can't seem to show it as an image - not computer literate enough.

Sean Connery is hooning up the road and is pulled over by James Bond. Now that is one hilariously massive coincidence.

It says he was pestered by film people and publicity people, so why wasn't this more well known?

As I mentioned above, it probably was at the time, depends on your age as to whether you remember it. When the first post was made, I new that I had a larger press cutting about it, remembering it from over 40 years ago. I think the answer is, that you need to be an old f art like me (who collected press cuttings at the time) who needs his memory nudging occasionally.
