Don´t know if he was mentioned here somewhere, but I just rewatched Rome again and thought that he would be a perfect M. And maybe Kevin McKidd as 004 who gets killed ?

Ciaran Hinds is a fantastic actor, so it's a good shout for him to be M. I'd certainly like to see it.

Very good idea! A younger "M" would be new as well!

Hinds would be fine with me, I like the idea of Ken Stott as well, no nonsence types. Still can't get past the idea of Dalton, yes I know he played Bond but at his age he'd make a brilliant M.

It's a new series and wouldn't bother me but I can imagine so many fan boys getting there knickers in a twist over it that the reaction would ruin such an idea.

I could easily get behind the idea of casting Dalton as M. He'd be fantastic in the role, and since they kept Judi Dench in the role during the reboot, it wouldn't be the first time that EON has gone in such a direction, having someone from the previous 20 films continue on into the new "series" of films.

And, yes, I do also love the idea of Ciaran Hinds as M.

While we're at it, Roger Moore would be perfect for Q.

I don't want any former Bond to play any other character in the films, though. Would take me out of the film completely even if it was just a five second long gag.

I thought about a spit-screen-PTS. 004 and 007 are taking on Quantum in different parts of the world. While 007 gets away wounded, 004 gets killed and 007 (who didn´t know 004 personally that much) is sent by M to finish the job after his recovery? Only a man on a mission, no revenge-angle

Hinds is a terrific actor who would be a great addition to the Bond canon in whatever role he played.
I do feel it's time to retire Dench...as great an actress as she is, she's getting increasingly annoying and was my least favourite thing about the two Craig pics..

Ciaran Hìnds would be terrific choice, he's a very good actor.

Timothy Dalton would be wonderful too, the first Bond to be M, great idea.

No. It would be an awful idea. And would represent creative stalemate in a lot of ways not very progressive to the series.

I think Dalton was an Idea I had on a different thread.

I still think it is valid.

So who is this guy Ciaran Hinds??

He was in Munich, in There Will Be Blood, Road to Perdition, etc.
Also he will feature in the last Harry Potters as Dumbledore's brother and he played Julius Caesar in the TV-series Rome. In my opinion, he's a terrific actor.

Hinds would be good. I mentioned him before QoS was made.

Recently I have been thinking of Brendan Gleeson though - his performance as Churchill in Into the Storm blew me away, sometimes I thought they had brought back Winston from the grave. He is the right age as well 54 and has both the voice and physical stature that we have been missing since Bernard Lee and Robert Brown.

No, not Hinds for me.
I think about Ralph Feinnes taking over from Queen Dench when the time comes.

I like Hinds quite a bit; I'm all for Alan Dale at the moment, though.
