Is a revival of the classic 007 title in the works?

Well according to this videogames blog, there's a leak of a guy who's working on the animations for a GoldenEye game (2010) for the Wii.. let's hope this is true!

Doesn't Rare own the rights? And isn't Rare now Microsoft? And isn't Microsoft the competitor of the Wii? And wouldn't a Micro Soft Wii just be a console in need of vıagra?

If they actually are developing this, it wouldn't even be for PS3, 360 or PC?

I'd be very surprised if this happened. I don't think it ever will.

Probably would be if it is indeed going ahead - just handled by different development studios.

Depends on how Activison goes about this. I would think Activision technically has the rights to re-adapt the movie into a game. So long as it's a brand new game. EA tried to make a game in the same vein as GoldenEye and even called it GoldenEye so... Activision could do something similar.

I don't know. I just don't see it happening, but Activision probably has better chances of accomplishing it than anyone else. IMO, GoldenEye is the past. Let it go. Do something new. There's no reason another James Bond game, developed properly of course, couldn't be as successful as GoldenEye.

True, but it's probably the same reason they put GoldenEye on the title of Rogue Agent:

GoldenEye sells.

It was one of the most popular N64 games, and remains that way. It is still regarded as one of the best FPS developed to date. The name will pull in a lot of extra customers.

It would be a new game, totally unrelated to the N64 classic. Based on GoldenEye the movie instead of one of the other 22 movies just as a cheap way to cash in on the reputation of the old game.

I completely agree. We need a decent new Bond game that is not marred by having to tie into a new movie. Make an original game, get Craig (or Roger Moore! I'd love to see a game with him) to play Bond in it, and watch the cash flood in.

I would definetely buy an updated version of GE, though. If they just re-released the game with graphics that are up to today's standards, I would be an even happier fellow.

I would hate it if we didn't get a new bond game with Daniel Craig as 007.

I don't get why Splinter cell and batman can give us amazing games but Bond can't

I just would love a bond game where i decide if i want to run around and shoot or if i want to be stealth.

I already have the N64 game. I'd much rather it come to a next generation console with significantly upgraded graphics. Now, that would warrant a purchase as it would be an entirely new experience seperate from the original.

I'm more interested in Bloodstone.

GoldenEye is a great classic and if you want to play it in HD there is always PC emulation. I'm sure a remake or re-release wouldn't be faithful given the legal entanglements that game is caught in. I don't see how Activision can re-release Rare's work. I feel if it ever happens it'll be GoldenEye only in name.

Same here. Love GoldenEye and it's the best, but I’m more excited about new material.

Very likely. EA had a GoldenEye obsession, and now Activision seem to have one as well. They can't make anything close to it, so they do the whole "if you can't beat them, join them" thing. Personally, I think they should get over it. GoldenEye has its place in history, and you should make your own. I'm still interested in what comes of it, though.

It would be much better to spend your energy and ambitions on TOPPING a game that came out some thirteen years ago rather than reviving it (though I would love to play it again, somehow, without buying a Nintendo 64. My brother downloaded a computer version, but since I can't play games on computers very well I had to look at him playing, drooling over his keyboard).

Honestly if they are looking to remake a game I'd prefer a Casino Royale game.

The amount of things the orignal game missed out on would make for an amazing game in it's own right

The embassy shoot out
the bahamas scenes would make for some great stealh/ card mini game levels
and the Casino royale stuff while the best levels of thegame should of been expanded a bit more.

Again my personal View points.

I can also come up with scene missed out from Quantum of solace that would make great levels.

Personnaly they should come up with Quantum of solace the lost levels release it and I'll be very happy.

I loved Goldeneye but I fail to see why we need to remake it the only level that could be added is the monte carlo card stuff.

As for Bloodstone I'm much more interested in that.

I would think an update of the game would be in order for a reissue? Aside from graphics, etc.

If that was done, I would be pretty interested in picking up the game. It's still my favorite James Bond game.

On a side note, Roger Moore was approached by EA to make a Moonraker game a few years back. However EA lost the licence and the game was never realized. A true shame!!

It would be cool to have more games about the older films updated a bit.

Hopefully they continue the games and a high standard of making them as well.

Goldeneye seemed to be not just a great time the first time you played it, but over and over again.

personally I would love for them to re adapt the films as video games as close as possible. Personally they should do this for Casino Royale and Quantum of solace as well.

I am a big fan of the Original GE game and enjoyed 'Agent under fire' and 'Nightfire' though Bond games since then have left me rather cold.

In this instance however remaking so well a thought of game does seem a hiding to nothing - inviting nostalgic comparisons and expectations for no real gameplay benefit....its not even the original studio doing the work so like Rouge Agent I get a sense of dread ^^.

Ultimately I'd rather see an original Bond title, with a story made to exploit the strengths of the gaming medium, than a rehash of someone else's sterling work that I've already enjoyed..the same but different is always a dodgy area to play in.
