Drinks in B23?

One of my favorite Connery scenes is one which was irresponsibly cut from one of his worst Bond films; the dinner with Plenty scene in Vegas in which Bond returns the bottle of wine. Connery is classic in it.
I hereby declare that this scene should be resurrected by Craig! Call it a lazy, uninspired rehash, yet another self-congratulatory turd on the homage pile if you will, but technically speaking it doesn’t exist in DAF, or any of the other films, so you can just blow it out your loophole!

Maybe that would finally quiet the naysayers who incredibly still insist CraigBond doesn't display Bond's superb taste in food and drink. It does bring to mind an idea…

Could be funny for delivering a line or two.

Maybe something modern like a Choc or Apple-Tini or at something that leaves a rim mark on the mouth.
Could be funny for delivering a line or two.
YES! I can see that.

I like this suggestion. I think it would suit Craig’s Bond well. It’s being cultured and knowledgeable yet dealing with it in a "gritty" irritated manner. It does bring to mind an idea…

I like this too.Better yet he could even use an unfavourable bottle of Dom Perignon in a fight, after it's "lost it's chill"...

I agree. There’s been a clamoring for Bond's return to Japan in these parts, and I'm thinking the scene would work just as well with a bottle of sake, one which was carelessly stored well below its ideal serving temperature.I like this too.Better yet he could even use an unfavourable bottle of Dom Perignon in a fight, after it's "lost it's chill"...
But then here I go again trying to resurrect old Bond quotes. Probably best to go with Shark’s Champagne that “lost its chill”.

Maybe something mixed with Ribena (UK Blackcurrant drink)?

A pint. A good British pint. In a bar with Bill Tanner et al in London as a pre-credits scene - a birthday, a promotion or some such. Tanner or A.N. Other Universal Employee, one over the odds, lets slip a tale of something or other to Bond and away we go on the story for Bond 23...
Not so far fetched, as 007 says in reply to 006's "Closing time James!" in the Soviet chemical weapons site in GoldenEye, "Buy me a pint, Alec!"
In a straight glass, not a "jug" and the scene would be in an upmarket pub, as opposed to a member’s only club.
On a similar vein, I would love the scene to continue with Bond picking up a woman in said pub, or taxi queue (can't have him driving home whilst over the limit in 2010/2011, he lives off of the King’s Road, so a cab from the West End to Sloane Square would be realistic) and taking her back to his apartment. We have not seen said apartment since the early 60s and mid 70s. I for one am dying to see how it looks “now”
Anyone for a cameo by Lulu as "a Scottish treasure called May"?
Like I say, just a thought...

Hello all - First Post and all that (not that I ever want to hear "The Last Post" again...), but here is my two-penneth worth:

Another poster after my own heart. Welcome to CbN!

Yes, a hail to the Swinging Sixities I feel is in your mind here and I concur! Just no shades of Austin Powers allowed though.
Free love, free sex, no excuses, lots of booze.
That kind of thing?

Not too much of the retro-60s side of things (that was done far too well i) at the time and ii) by Mike Meyers!), I was just thinking it would be an interesting scene to see Bond "off duty" (if ever he can be...) and we see a little of his home life.
Another thought is that Bond is ex-RN before moving across to SIS and so would be steeped in the lore of "Mess" (or "Wardroom" as my 'dark blue' former colleagues refer to it) life and pints do play a big part in that, along with Gin, Pink Gin, Port etc etc :-)
Also, as Bond as become "younger" in age, "look" and style since DC took over, I think a pub / bar setting in the UK as opposed to Blades would be more fitting. DC just doesn't look like he would be comfortable in an old style "Member's Club" with the exception of the "In and Out" [Naval and Military] in London where he’d be a member by default as he holds the commissioned rank of Commander, RN

Agree with all your points but I meant more in the Sixties "mindframe" rather than furnishings, clothing, etc.
Yes! Gin and IT! How about that for a comeback drink!

I disagree, while Daniel Craig's Bond maybe "younger" in general he can still afford to be slightly anachronistic (in the best sense of the term) in some ways. After all he may be a rougher bloke, but he is still Fleming's Bond, and maybe even in the plot a Terence Young-like figure at the Gentleman's club could teach him to be a gentleman.
There are countless gentleman's clubs in London (wikipedia has a very good list), and maybe like in the novel MR, you could have Bond going with M (Judi Dench in a romantic dress) to his local club, for some gambling, drinks and chat, while she points out to a suspicious Hugu Drax-like figure who's cheating at bridge.
Would be a nice change to see Bond, M and others in evening wear, smoking and engaging in something Fleming might have thought have.
