I didn't even know Turing was a real person until I read this article. B)

Seriously? His story is a rather sad case of how far gay people had to come to be considered mainstream in the culture of today... B)

Poor Man! After all he had done. He should have been celebrated not castrated.

Still far from mainstream in most countries and even in Europe gays have to face widely differing attitudes towards them, from downright hostility to unbiased openness. Let's not start about the Americas, Asia and so on. I'm afraid our current non-discriminatory views of homosexuality are still that of a minority, even in the 21st Century.

Still, they've already come a long way!

Indeed we have.

But I recognize the stench of a desperate politician scambling for votes when I smell it. This is Brown trying to claw back gay votes - which a recent poll found he had largely lost - ahead of the election. The man is a pathetic, venal, inept embarrassment. The sooner he's been driven from office, the better.

Incidentally, I'm amazed it's news that Turing was gay. I thought it was pretty common knowledge.

It's never too late to admit you were wrong, I guess.

Last year, for example, the U.S. House of Representatives issued an apology to African Americans for the institution of slavery and the subsequent Jim Crow laws.
