His appearance was sorely missed in the last two films.
He really wasn't.
John Cleese is a good actor in his own right, but his performance in The World is not Enough was an embarrassment. His performance in Die Another Day was ok, but nothing to special. He's probably one of the only british actors that doesn't fit in a Bond film.
Plus, the car sucks. Sorry.

John Cleese NEEDS to be in the next Bond film. His appearance was sorely missed in the last two films. Also this needs to be Bonds next car. Let's make these films great again.
No, he should never have been in a Bond film. Great comedic actor but completely wrong for Bond.
Also, that car looks terrible. Completely generic sports car and un-British.
Look up the Mabach Exelero - that looks far Bondian.

He's appearance in TWINE is slightly odd but does encourage that brilliant scene between Bond and Q. "Your not thinking of retiring anytime soon, are you?"
Ace.
But I like Cleese, if he is back as Q, I would have no gripes. He does after all have a contract starting with TWINE for 3 films, meaning EON have 1 more film at hand.

And if the character does return - new series, new direction.
Yes, this is the way to go. I don't see Q as a major character but I see him as a needed character.

I'm sorry but that's hideous.
My car is the Lotus Esprit. Wake up guys. Already confirmed Bondian.

Agreed. I didn't miss Cleese or Q at all in the last two films. Cleese is a good actor who can be quite funny with the right material, but I didn't particularly care for his take on Q at all.

Didn't you hear him at the end of CR? "The name's Bond, James Bond."I missed Bond in the last two films. When's he coming back again I wonder.
Or at the end of Qos? "I never left."

Cleese is a thing of the past as far as the Bond films are concerned.
"I'm not dwelling on the past, I don't think you should either."

I'd like to see the character of Q return at some point (not necessarily for Bond 23 but if it happens, it happens), but only if it's in a way that works with the Craig era and works to help the film rather than just throwing him into the mix for the hell of it. Maybe as "Major Boothroyd"?

And since I'm on the subject, I don't really want Moneypenny either. Still way too tired of the forced scenes... "gotta have a scene with Moneypenny". You know if they bring her in, I hope her role is more in line with Villiers. It was a shame he wasn't in Quantum. It's easy continuation like that that bugs me about movie franchises sometimes. Bet they couldn't figure out how to place him because he was largely unnecessary given the huge role that Tanner played.

As for that car, Aston Martins are conspicuous - and expensive - enough. Although it would be okay if Bond stole it from a villain during an escape - then he could wreck it too.

But I have faith in EON and Craig. I think he has such a good relationship with them that they can’t do anything that won’t fit with his Bond. They are very much on the same wavelength and I have faith they won’t bring characters in that just don’t fit or work.
I don’t like the look of the car. It looks like a blue box. I thought Lotus went from Bond Films with Moore? I want to look at Bonds can and want one. I look at that car and I don’t want it.

In the land of the blind, a one-eyed man is kingCleese is the best thing in DAD [...]

I've always liked Q (wouldn't mind seeing him return, but in a way that fits properly into the current Bond style and not as a nerdy buffoon), and I'm also a fan of Cleese. But the general direction the Q character was moving towards went a bit too much into JarJar Binks territory, and I fear that it would happen again.

Anyone know who was the most responsible for his casting in TWINE?

John Cleese NEEDS to be in the next Bond film.
With respect, no he doesn't! I think the new Craig era is well past the campish quartermaster scenes we saw in The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day. By all means bring Q back, but for God's sake give him some credibility and seriousness!

Cleese can come back, the Craig era is not that different from the Brosnan one as one thinks.
Really? I think they're both very different from each other, but I still love them both. I enjoy Brosnan's light-hearted approach, and enjoy Craig's gritty approach. I still don't think Cleese would be right for a Casino Royale/Quantum Of Solace-type movie, unless the next Bond film goes a completely different way to the last two.

I disagree with both points.
Cleese was just a temporary substitute for Desmond Llewelyn, it seemed. I don't think he could've matched Llewelyn's popularity. Personally, I didn't miss him, or the character of Q in the last couple of films.
As for that car ... Sure, that'd work well. Perhaps Vin Diesel could take Craig's place in the next film, too.
