If I recall correctly, CBn posted an entry where Marc Foster said he was working on a 3-disk colector's edition set with the alternate ending and deleted scenes..

So, any news on this?

I imagine it will be released close to the theatrical release date of Bond 23 as a tie in.

Exactly.

Seeing that the debut Quantum of Solace DVD/Blu-ray release took place this past March, I wouldn't expect to see a new version until mid-2010 at the earliest.

i hate the way they do that. they should release it half way between the new movie and the old to keep us busy.

We know that Forster has already recorded an audio commentary for the movie so they are probably following the same timeline as they did for Casino Royale, ie as soon as they have sold as many of the largely bare-bone editions as they can on DVD and Blu-ray they will release a more feature-laden eduition.

Personally speaking I have not seen Quantum of Solace since I was in the movie theater. I bought the Blu-ray as part of the Amazon deal and it essentially cost me $6. Then I turned around and sold it sealed on e-bay for $23.

I will pick it up for my collection when the Collector's Edition Blu-ray comes out. I'm not in any particular hurry.

Well to give you an idea, Casino Royale (3 disk edition) was release Oct. 21 2008, which was 1 month and 7 days apart from the theatrical release of QoS. So we won't be seeing a 3 disk edition for a while B)

At least the film will be the full and uncut version this time , unlike the Casino Royale super deluxe orgasmic 3 disc (but still edited!) DVD.

If only it was like that, all big hollywood studios never do that after the first release, you have to wait along time. He are some movies that took a long time for a special edition since the first release or still don't have one at all.

Special Edition
Face/Off
Mission Impossible
Dirty Harry
The Untouchables
Rio Bravo
Stagcoach
Jailhouse Rock
Viva Las Vegas
Patton
Backdraft
Back To The Future Series
Chaplin
The Hustler
Heat
An American In Paris
Funny Face
The Great Escape
Casino
Bullitt
Top Gun

Still Don't Have A Special Edition
Air Force One
Hard Target
The Good Shepard
Days Of Thunder
Day Of The Jackal
The Green Berets
Broken Arrow
Eraser
Gunfight At The OK Corral
Full Metal Jacket
Leaving Las Vegas
Lean On Me
Fallen
Hud
Nobody's Fool
Outbreak
The Killing Field
Snakeeye
Dick Tracy
The Color Of Money
Kill Bill

Just think back to how long it took since the first one came before the Special Edition came out, and you notice. Also look at some of those that dcon't have a Special Edition, since it first came out on DVD. You have to wondering will it ever have or that is it.

A new version of Full Metal Jacket came out last year; it does have a commentary and a featurette but thats it...

What are you talking about? There's not going to be any director's cut released.

There never has been a directors cut of an EON Bond film and hopefully there will never be. The films should and do stand up as quality in their original form , provided they are released uncut. The cuts made to the US release of CR made the film lack the power it originally had.

There's a first time for everything. Director's Cuts are a relatively new invention (Heaven's Gate's TV Premier is generally regarded as the first time that phrase was used, I believe) and have only really taken off since DVD became the dominant home video medium. I don't think we will see a QOS director's cut, but I wouldn't write it off.
