Just found [url="http://"http://www.cia.gov//spy_fi/item20.html"]this[/url]. I knew that they used a glass sheet for the scene and that Bob Simmons stood in for Connery, but I had no idea that there was a fake used.

I hope you read it carefully, since it said a real one was used for the actual filming of the scene. That fake one was used for rehearsals and other such business.

Yeah, of course they used a real one for the scene, thats pretty obvious isn't it? What I was saying is that I had never heard of their being a 'prop' tarantula.

Yeah, niether have I, surely they could have used it in the shots where we see Bond's face, using some kind of whatever to pull it.

That's pretty funny. I think I do recall some scenes where the spider does look a little...questionable. It would be neat to have that, though.

Yeah...I've also heard about this. Connery who was so afraid
of spiders that they have to use the stuntman (Simmons)
At least in the Swedish version of Dr No- one can

I wonder if the tarantula has a stunt double when Connery does him in with his shoe?
