M: I assume they found no trace of White?
Bond: No.
It was like he disappeared off the face of the earth to MI6. Quantum has people everywhere, remember. I expect they hid him well.

There's apparently a deleted scene where Mr. White confronts Bond in Quantum of Solace. The scene set things up for further battles with Quantum in future Bond films. But it was cut from the movie.
Actually, I kind of expected a confrontation between the two just from the last scene of the film. I thought that when Bond walked away from M into the snowy darkness, that he might be spotted from the shadows, by an eventually revealed Mr. White, who steps out with a gun to kill Bond. When he aims his weapon, the camera switches to a POV from the weapon's barrel, from which we see Bond spin toward him and fire. It would have been a mirror to the opening of Casino Royale.

i actually believe that White is the New Blofeld - he is just in diquise like Liam Neeson in BATMAN BEGINS where it turns out that he is the head of the group
I think you're right Marcato. White certainly leaves some doors open for Bond 23 and beyond, and I think we're going to be seeing him again as the new supervillain of the Bond series.

He a terrorist and they just let him go like he never existed
Like others said, he escaped. But, they now had someone better - Mitchell. Even though Bond killed him, MI6 had access to Mitchell's entire life, personal info, bank accounts, etc, and were able to get to Quantum through him, without having to bother finding White.
I don't know about White coming back as the "Blofeld" of Quantum though. I'd prefer to see Bond be forced to work with him, perhaps White wants out of Quantum (fearing that they'll kill him) and is prepared to help MI6 bring them down.

That's an interesting idea. I don't like the idea of Mr. White being the head of Quantum, anyway. Would it make sense for him to be arranging the meeting between Le Chiffre and Obano at the beginning of CR if he were the head. Would it make sense for him to be the one who pulled the trigger on Le Chiffre, and be Vesper's contact? No, he's definitely an employee.
I would like to see some ultimate payoff between him and Bond, as there's definitely some unfinished business on that front. As for the deleted final scene between them in QoS, does anyone know exactly what happens. I'm genuinely curious.

I really want to see a somewhat faithful adaptation of YOLT where Bond goes after Dr. Shatterhand and it turns out to be Mr. White.
that would be a dream come true

I was just about to post something to that effect as a new thread. They need to set it up with Bond falling in love with someone and having her directly killed by him; it needn't be a remake of OHMSS, though I wouldn't mind that - hell, it could even be Camille again, but anything that can be a platform for a faithful adaptation of that amazing book.I really want to see a somewhat faithful adaptation of YOLT where Bond goes after Dr. Shatterhand and it turns out to be Mr. White.

Yes it could well make sense. Remember, in this Bond era, M is going directly to where things are happening - it is not impossible to fathom that her criminal counterpart may be doing the same thing.
Furthermore, I don't buy that QUANTUM is the name of the organisation. I don't think we really know what that is yet, though I'm holding out hope for SPECTRE. As corny as some will claim it is, it is not at all like that in Fleming's writing.

Actually, I think we do. Didn't Greene say to Bond out in the desert, "I told you everything you wanted to know about Quantum"?Furthermore, I don't buy that QUANTUM is the name of the organisation. I don't think we really know what that is yet,

Yes but I got the impression that 'QUANTUM' referred only to Greene's division of the organisation.Actually, I think we do. Maybe, maybe not. After all, weren't they all wearing the Q lapel pins at the opera? Also, the only "division" I could see, in terms of terminology, was that Greene was handling the Tierra Project, which was specifically in Bolivia, and also heading up Greene Planet. But my sense was that Quantum was the overarching organization.Yes but I got the impression that 'QUANTUM' referred only to Greene's division of the organisation.Actually, I think we do. Mr. White was also the cool cat of Quantum during the Tosca scene. While other members got up to leave allowing Bond to identify them, White stayed sat so he was not seen by Bond.
I loved that scene. I love how White carefully removes his ear piece, and looks straight ahead when Bond walks past.

Indeed, it's a scene that further distinguishes him from the other Quantum members. He had nerves of steel. He didn't panic and he used his brain, in turn remaining invisible. You're right.
