James Bond star signs up for villain role on 'Doctor Who'

FORMER James Bond Timothy Dalton is to play a baddie in one of David Tennant’s final episodes of Doctor Who.
Details are being kept under wraps but Dalton has already flown in from his home in Los Angeles for filming.

An insider said: “Timothy Dalton is a big coup for Doctor Who because he’s pretty iconic.

“He’s in the UK right now and is shooting scenes over the next few weeks.

“It’s a good gig for him as it will be one of the most memorable episodes yet.”

The dashing actor, 63, played 007 in Eighties films The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill.

His role will be in one of three specials marking the final appearance of Tennant, 38, as the Time Lord.

The last of the three will see the star regenerate into the new Doctor — played by Matt Smith, 26.

The BBC1 has not yet decided on exactly when the three specials will be shown.

But it is expected they will all screen around Christmas, with one possibly being shown on New Year’s Eve.

The final episode will feature ALL the Doctor’s sidekicks — Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman and Catherine Tate.

John Simm will also feature as the Doctor’s arch enemy The Master.

Top news; this has the whiff of truth about it, unlike many other 'XXX to appear in Dr Who playing Davros' mum' stories that turn up too often.
It's about time James Bond met Dr Who; now I just need Indiana Jones to turn up as well (although they have all shared Julian Glover as a villain!)

Well, good news to here for Dalton. I've heard rumors about this floating around for sometime now; it's good that it's official now.

I wonder if this will jump start those other projects that he's supposedly attached to.

Great news! Not many people know this, but he had actually been cast for the Tintin movie, The Secret of the Unicorn, in which he was going to play a villain. But they got rid of his character at the last minute. Really sad, because according to my friend who worked on the film, Dalton was super excited and had already bought all the Tintin books for his kids. But wouldn't that have been amazing? Two Bonds in one single film?

Not many people know this, but he had actually been cast for the Tintin movie ...

Now that would have been sooooo cool .... Not only Daniel Craig but it would have also reunited him with Pegg and Frost.

Still, I'll make do with Dr Who and 'Clean Out' with Mads Mikkelsen and Harvey Keitel.

Good to see him attached to some decent projects.

Really sad, because according to my friend who worked on the film, Dalton was super excited and had already bought all the Tintin books for his kids. But wouldn't that have been amazing? Ah, I really should not have read that, now I won't be able to watch Tintin without thinking of the possibility of having Craig and Dalton in the same movie. Dalton makes a terrific villain, just look at his excellent turn in the endlessly rewatchable Rocketeer.

Hopefully, he'll get other roles in major movies soon. Ian McKellen's movie-career didn't take off before he was into his sixties, so nothing is impossible.

It has been sort of semi-confirmed by spy shots that John Simm is returning as the Master. So maybe he will regenerate into Dalton and Dalton will have a possible recurring role as new Doctor Matt Smith's nemesis.
