In You Only Live Twice, Charles Gray plays Bond's ally, Henderson. Four years later, he returns. As Blofeld. I mean, seriously. Did they think we'd forget him? I sure didn't. I know there are other actors who have played numerous roles over the years in Bond flicks, but this is the first one I noticed. It just left me a bit confused. Either way, he's quite good in both movies.

I noticed this too. odd but he was good in both roles. i think in The Man With the Golden Gun the girl bond slaps and threatens to break her arm also played Octopussy. Key word "I THINK". lol

Huh, I never noticed. B)

Few more for ya.

Joe Don Baker played bad guy Brad Whitaker in TLD, returns as good guy Jack Wade in GE and TND. Walter Gotell played Morzeny in FRWL, Gen. Gogol in several later films. Robert Brown was Admiral Hargreaves in TSWLM, M in later films. Martin Beswick played Zora in FRWL, Paula in TB. Shane Rimmer has popped up in several different parts. And then there's Maud!

I thought he was rather poor as Blofeld, to tell the truth. One fan I know suggested Blofeld had based his new look on Agent Henderson, which is a decent way of explaining this. B)

Okay, because I thought I was going crazy. I'd seen pictures of him as Bolfeld before, and when I watched YOLT, I'm like, "Hey, that's Blofeld! Don't trust him Bond! Nooooo!!" ...until I realized they were allies. But I'm glad I found some clarification on this matter.

Another question: is he better as Henderson or Blofeld?

I know there isn't much to base it off of for Henderson because he's picked off so quickly, but I think he's better as Henderson.

He was better as Henderson because his Blofeld was a buffoon. He died on my 11th birthday, by the way.

I somehow always imagined they were supposed to be the same character, that he got promoted to M later on or something. Nothing backs up this theory, off course, but it works in my head. B)

Except for the last few die-hard fans, by the time DIAMONDS came out no one really cared as the series was thought to have been played out.

The only time it was apparent was when DIAMONDS and TWICE were released on a double-bill in 1972. A few times you could hear someone say 'It's Blofeld." when Henderson answered the door, but by-and-large it was a non-event.

Pity that both the characters of Blofeld and Leiter never really has any consistent casting to make them more memorable.

Charles Gray also provided the second part of the son et lumiere narration for the Pyramids show in The Spy Who Loved Me. It was uncredited voice over work.

Other bit casting repeats:

Ed Bishop: Hawaii CapCom technician in YOLT, Klaus Hergersheimer in DAF
Shane Rimmer: Hawaii Radar Operator in YOLT, Tom, space technician in DAF, uncredited voice of Hamilton in LALD, Commander Carter in SWLM
David Bauer: US diplomat in YOLT, Morton Slumber in DAF
Valerie Leon: Sardinian Hotel receptionist in SWLM, Lady in Bahamas in NSNA
Manning Redwood: General Miller in NSNA, Bob Conley in AVTAK
Billy J Mitchell: Captain Pederson in NSNA, Admiral Chuck Farrell in GoldenEye
Robert Rietty: voice of Largo, Tanaka, Blofeld in FYEO and casino official in OHMSS and Italian Minister in NSNA
David de Keyser: voice of Draco, South American doctor in DAF

I've always thought George Baker should have played M in GoldenEye, instead of that dame Judi.

Robert Rietty: voice of Largo, Tanaka and Draco, casino official in OHMSS, South American doctor in DAF and Italian Minister in NSNA

And the voice of 'Blofeld' in For Your Eyes Only, of course.

Talking of voiceovers, who's the actor who says: "Five-hundred feet, sir." in The Spy Who Loved Me, and: "This is where we leave you, Mr. Bond." in Moonraker?

It sounds like John Carson to me. But it probably isn't.

How do we know that Henderson wasn't really The Real Blofeld all along, and arranged to have his death faked in front of Bond (just like Bond had recently faked his own death) to remove himself from suspicion. It explains the surprised look(s) on Connery's face in DAF when he sees Blofeld(s)!

There we go! We have a thinker! I mean, that death wouldn't be too hard to fake. I'd just get a magnet and hide it under his clothes, then get the handle from a knife (with a magnet on it) and stick it on. The walls were like paper, so a hole would be easy to make. From what I can remember, there was no blood (unlike Bond's fake death).

And when Bond met Blofeld in Diamonds, he could have been like, "You've stabbed me in the back... Henderson." The plot thickens...

You messed up on one: The South American doctor was played by David de Keyser, the real voice of Draco. B)

Also, I think Rietty dubs Superintendent Duff in Dr. No, as well; it certainly sounds like him.

If we include the '67 Casino Royale, Angela Scoular played Buttercup and later played Ruby in EON's OHMSS. And, of course, Ursula Andress played Vesper.
