Damn, finally we're getting to hear some solid news. Brosnan golfing in Bond....on the ice! I know I shouldnt raise my expectations to high, but man, this sounds cool(no pun intended).

Back to the topic in hand, I must say that I think the 'golfing on ice' is a neat idea. It's quite quirky and perfect for a Bond villain. I just hope that the special effects don't let the scene down.

Yes, it's a bit strange trying to translate English slang into another language.
BTW Tim, "mickey" is also slang for "self assurance". :)

Go here: http://dict.leo.org/...tandard&lang=de , there you see what I mean :)

Err... considering Brosnan left school at age 15, grew up for most of his early life in poverty without parents, and is essentially a self taught, self made man an ability to learn new things, usually on his own, is not alien to him. He paints, plays classical flute, boxes, rides, plays tennis, breathes fire etc and I've seen him fence, play polo, play baseball, and do trapeze... oh and he can milk a goat (LOL) so he seems to be able to have picked up some things.

Oh and unlike Connery, Pierce managed to lose or maybe just sublimate his working class rural Irish accent.

He just doesn't golf or speak German like a native. Then again Connery's Japanese was nothing to write home about either. ;-)

I thought it literally translated to:
"Don't let her take the p*** out of you"?

Well said "Mourning Becomes Electra". Ive heard alot about the German accent in Tomorrow Never Dies, but although this unlikely, Bond may have done that deliberatley.
We keep forgetting that Bond was undercover as a British banker, his cover-story, alias (who had the same name), may have just been learning the German language. Its only a theory, but on movies like this they have voice coaches who teach the actors how to give a good accent, and speak the langauge believably. So i doubt, it would have been an accident. As i said, only a theory. :)

Indeed!

I used to play off 12 when I was in my early teens.... Oh how I wish i hadn't abandoned the game, I could have a really low handicap by now... But Brosnan will need a few lessons if he's to play in Bond 20.

His bunker shot in TCA was, err, interesting...

Can anyone remember Halle Berry's golf scene in SwordFish? Now that is what i call golf. Just out of curiousity, would anyone like to see her costumes being like Ginger's in SwordFish (if this drags on i'll start a new topic).

Interesting is a nice word for it...

John McTeirnan in the director's commentary on TCA said Pierce had to take lessons for that scene because he'd never golfed before in his life. I guess more were needed ;-)

There was an interview with Brosnan while he was filming TWINE. He was being driven back home with the reporter and was joking about his golfing, and the reporter asked what his handicap was and the Chauffeur (who he golfed with) called out "his swing". I wonder if he's improved by now.

I guess that some people just look the part. Sean Connery became an avid golf player as a result of Goldfinger, but I don't know how much he had already practiced before that time.

Pierce doesn't seem to pick up things well, like being able to speak German in Tomorrow Never Dies as if he really knew the language.

What is really exciting about this news is this thought. who but an over the top villain with a huge ego and real sportsman (fencing, golf, cars) would have a golf course in the middle of Iceland in the dead of winter? Gustav Graves' character and B20 itself is getting more exciting everyday!! On another note, the official site mentioned nothing of the title on this last update. I tell you i have a hunch the title is not going to be BTI. Why would it tke Eon close to a year to get this title approved i it was the one they were going with all along. Correct me if I'm wron but it just doesn't take that long!!pb1 007!!

True Brosnan has been denied as filming in Iceland, but until recently, we didnt think Halle Berry would be filming outside of England either. So there is a chance Brosnan will be filming in Iceland.

Yes! I hope Bond will get his hands on a golf club once again. I am so excited about this news. Could you imagine the scene? wow. I can't wait to see how computer technology makes it look like the turf and stuff is natural. :)

Wow, I haven't heard anything about this rumor before! I just hope they don't rip off Goldfinger too closely, it seems like they're trying to incorporate elements from tons of the previous Bond films (Golfing like this, somebody mentioned the villain's plot was kind of like TSWLM, the satellite being the main weapon like in Goldeneye)..
I just hope Lee Tamahori knows what he's doing...:) I'm sure he does.

Hope Bond is involved. Bond hasn't touched a golf club since 1969!
