This was circa 1999, I believe. Looks old, doesn't he?

I was a fan of the show even before Lazenby was brought on as Major Charles, the Pretender's father.
I'm guessing that the producers were fans of OHMSS - Miss Parker, played by Andrea Parker, was pretty much an Emma Peel/Diana Rigg clone.

He still looks like James Bond to me.

Yup.
If Gardner had literally picked Fleming's early 40s Bond from the early/mid 60s and dropped him in 1981 for Licence Renewed (rather than ignore the ageing option) then THIS is what he should have looked like.
And there would have been nothing wrong with a 60 year old Bond if he had.

The Pretender was a great show. I got a big kick out of seeing George Lazenby playing Jarrod's dad. I can see the Miss Parker/Emma Peel similarities.Well, we was 60 years old at the time. Will you look that good at 60?

He still looks like James Bond to me too--and that he can still play 007 (albeit an older one).
