Two Parachutes?

I watched this last night. One of my all-time favorites. The last of Bond films to feel fully connected to the classic era. A lovely film. Dalton is superb. The photography and locations are terrific. The music is wonderful.

My only major qualm is Joe Don Baker. His line readings are so wooden. But I digress.

I did have a question. In the pre-title sequence Bond parachutes down to the Rock of Gibraltar for the mock 00 exercise. Does he repack his parachute because he uses it again to escape the exploding truck. Just a little thought that had never occurred to me...

Good catch, Solex! Never spotted that before!

Unless it was his reserve chute, I can't think of an explanation.

Always thought it was his reserve 'chute myself.

Isn't there a scene that shows one of them repacking a chute? The one gets stuck in the tree, so it's not him. You'd think they'd want to repack the shoot to conceal it easier.

I think you're right, and it is Bond. I'd always assumed he was hiding the chute, but I think he was repacking. In Dalton's first closeup, I'm pretty sure he's just finished strapping the chute back on when he turns toward the camera. Loks like you've solved it, Turn!

he was rather hidding it, you cant repack parachute in those conditions.
It was reserve parachute

It was reserve parachute

I agree with Colonel Moon. You can't just pack a parachute quickly. It's done a special way. He used his reserve chute.
