One of the most striking set designs in the film is the MI6 Head Quarters. Gassner designed a state-of-the-art secret service nerve centre full of light and glass. “I pushed the notion to modernize MI6. The feeling I had from Casino was that Judi was at a place that was a bridge between the older M world and Bond’s world and I wanted to get her up to speed, I wanted her on a computer. Her voice is the signature for MI6, her voice is the ultimate command. I decided she should have a smart wall and her voice should activate anything she needs, to command and control her world.

This was a big mistake IMO. What's next? "Beam me up, M!"

Anyway, I really hope Dennis Gassner is not invited back for Bond 23 (or any other future Bondfilm).

I strongly doubt the real head of MI6 still sits in a wood paneled room with leather club chairs. Having M in that style of office would have been as anachronistic as putting Bond back in the vintage Bentley. Since Dr. No. the franchise has existed in a world five minutes ahead of the rest of us, and I think Gassner’s designs embraced that.
