Here are some I've heard:-
- "Great Bond movie, dark and gritty"
- "Daniel Craig is great as Bond (and the girls say he is sexy)"
- "I prefer Bond to be a bit more fun - like Goldeneye. We need Bond jumping off cliffs into planes! That was awesome!"
- "Too serious"
- "Bond should be suave and sophisticated. Not a killing machine. I prefer him to use brains not brawn"
- "It was like Die Hard with James Bond in it"
What comments, good and bad, have you heard???

- "It's ok, not as good as Casino Royale."
- "You REALLY didn't have to see Casino Royale to work out what was going on."
- "That was awesome!"

- "Oh Look, Bond's invincible again!"
- "There was too much action, too generic!"
- "I was wondering how it was gonna start... 'Gunbarrel gunbarrel gunba... Mountain!'"
- "I liked the arty, silent restraunt shootout!"
- "Yep, Bond is back!"
- "I loved it!"
- "It was amazing!"
- "Daniel Craig is hot!"

"[Daniel Craig is] one hell of a good actor. nd i realli do like the way he portrays bond as a super tough guy doing the dirty work with his bare hands rather than the others...i mean i dont realli prefer the "sleezy gadjety cool" luk for bond. i find it a bit wimp-ish to be honest" - 15/16 year old male

"casino royale was indeed beter than this one..." - 18 year old male
"well u know to tell u the truth ,,, this movie the camera was shaking lik a rockstar.... and BUT i gotta say THE BOND GIRL IS ING HOT ....but lik too less action on the aston martin .... lik that next one better be good" - 18 year old male

"Wasn't as good as Casino Royale".
"Just seemed like a normal action movie"
"I almost nodded off".
I'm sure there were some positive comments but I didn't hear them, people didn't seem to enjoy the movie much. I can't really print what I was saying! Nonetheless, for the sake of balance,
guy at work early 20s "I reckon that was the best one".
girl at work late 20s "Pretty good but a bit of a bloke's film really".
mate early 30s "Would have been brilliant if I could see what the **** was going on".

As for me, a friend of mine like it and another didnt. I think it all comes to whether you are able to understand the story.

Female, late 30s -- "It was good."
Male, 50 -- "It was missing the traditional Bond elements."
Female, mid-50s -- "The shaky cam is making me dizzy."
All agreed that Casino Royale was better.

But overall, this film is getting high marks from non-Bond-fanatics.

"where was Q? ( hahahah)"
"why was the bond theme at the end? it should be in the movie"

"I though it was good."
"The action got numbing after a while."
"We sat waaaaay too close."
"Daniel Craig was sex on toast. Loved it."
"That was awesome."
So... mixed reviews. I personally thought it had some editing flaws, but otherwise loved it.

"There were too many plot threads."
"Who was that guy in Bond's trunk?"
"They should have had John Cleese. He was great in CR."
"Is the guy with the eye patch Le Chiffre?"
Err... okay, so the last one was from CR. Speaking of which, after CR, I heard "good, but not as great as Goldeneye."

I was at the laundromat yesterday and these two men were talking behind me. I couldn't make out every thing they said but it went like this,
man 1: "Sean Connery he ain't-" I couldn't make out the rest of the sentence.
man 2:"An' that Pierce Brosnan fella-" again they lowered their voices so I couldn't hear the rest of that.
One of the men: "This new guy they got, he does a lot of action."
Welcome to Indiana!

The criticism seems to be the usual suspects too - lack of coherency in action scenes, didn't feel involved, too rushed, lack of decent storyline, not enough quieter moments in the film.
There is definitely a pattern emerging here. These were all people who loved CR too. My mate may have summed it up perfectly by saying going into CR he wasn't expecting anything that great, and was completely blown away afterwards, yet with QoS, the expectations were now extremely high because of CR, and it didn't live up to it.
Is QoS a misunderstood masterpiece, or a film EON just didn't get quite right this time round, despite having decent intentions while making it?

Well, it definitely shows the problem with expectations. Hell, in my last post, I forgot to include what was possibly my favorite complaint:Is QoS a misunderstood masterpiece, or a film EON just didn't get quite right this time round, despite having decent intentions while making it?
"I didn't know it was going to be a sequel."
For some people, simply being a sequel tainted the whole film.
And yes, I heard complaints about Q, Moneypenny, and other thankfully absent gimmicks not being present. I think many weren't as harsh on CR about it because (1) they accepted it as a reboot, but think the end of that film means we should be back to "tradition" already, and (2) quite honestly, CR was a more colorful film. QoS purposefully eschews the lush CR style in favor of Spartan simplicity. After all, imagine if Dr. No followed Thunderball.

And from my mother, a casual Bond fan since Dr.No and now in her 70s: "That was fantastic. And much better than I was expecting."

Bond movies have a way of inspiring poetic hyperbole. I remember the looks on the faces of many Moore fans when I came out of CR. You don't even want to know what they said...I've met a couple of people who liked it, though I think not as much as me, but sadly the four people I went with were disappointed by it, and another described it as "the biggest load of bollocks ever" and told everyone to "never" see it. Can't win them all I guess.

This is probably just me being a humourless git, but how did you know they were Moore fans?

I either knew them already, spoke to them briefly before or after seeing the film... or they were wearing their Roger Moore eyebrows and detachable mole. This is probably just me being a humourless git, but how did you know they were Moore fans?
But seriously, in my experience, one of the first things people mention when discussing Bond is who their favorite actor in the role was. Then again, some of the people I know who most loved CR cite TSWLM as their favorite Bond film, so maybe Moore fans are just a diverse lot.
