Also when Mathis tells Bond 'I think she's got [those things that police use to arrest, can't remember the name in english] and Bond says 'I hope so'

Yes. It's just Bond's way of saying come in the bedroom and have a look in my drawers.
Exactly. I liked it too - it's just so throwaway, so obviously a meaningless ploy that was like...dare I say it, the old Connery films? That's why Fields laughs somewhat awkardly, his ploy is just so blatant. And yet she doesn't resist.
<Comforted sigh>. Classic Bond indeed.

Really, I'm happy I don't date too subtle men. Had Bond asked me that, I'd have started searching my bag for a stapler or a pen...

I started to laugh hysterically at the very beginning, where Fields and Bond entered the room, because I knew what's going to happen.

That line is very subtle. He could have said "fancy going for a swim, and I'll show you my length underwater".
How about. "I've lost my Mojo, would you come and help me find it" Wink Wink.

She knew exactly what was going to happen before she even picked him up at the airport by wearing nothing but that coat and boots. He could have said just about anything.
Yeah I'm so blonde had that been me I have said "It's probably in the sitting room, I'll look for you!" DUH.

Love the handcuff line too! A girl has to be prepared!

He's a pretty impatient guy. Work now, fun later.Pretty funny Bond with that line starts to take his jacket off. He means business.

However, it appears that 007 doesn't know how to spell "stationery", unless he is in fact asking to remain in the same place without moving for a while (which is possible, since he's holidaying with Vesper), rather than seeking a fresh supply of pens and notebooks.
And there's another little joke on his laptop screen: at least one of the names there is that of an Eon employee.

I wonder if I should try that line???

She was standing facing into the bedroom and against the wall beside the door was the writing desk with everything a hotel desk should have on it!
Oh Ms Fields you trenchcoat and boot wearing hottie you!

Subtle indeed. Subtlety is a virtue almost lost from our world, cinematic or otherwise. I plan to open a thread on it soon.
Still, come to think about it, Bond moving to the expensive hotel using Matthis' credit cards wasn't too subtle was it?

That line was brilliant, the audience almost died from laughing.
I started to laugh hysterically at the very beginning, where Fields and Bond entered the room, because I knew what's going to happen.
You're not one of those people who laugh every time there's a sex scene or a naked chick on t are you? ; )

Seemed to me the writers had spent ages thinking of a cool line to get Field's into the bedroom - and int bed - couldn't, and gave up. I mean, compare it with beauty of killing a few hours in Rio when you can't Samba....
Unless its a really, really sharp way of Bond implying she look at his etchings?
But I don't think so.
If you like it, good for you. For me, not the film's finest moment.

LOL. "Oh, Mr Bond, I'll give you somewhere to dip your ink!"“Great! Found it! But can you tell me where the pen-is?”have a look in my drawers.
I love how Bond, when he enters his hotel room with Fields, tosses (now, now) his keys aside!
My, what sharp little eyes you've got. Yes, spotted that too. They do slip in staff names occasionally. Goldeneye namechecks a bank and Joe Don Baker, TND namechecks Geoffrey Palmer. There are a few more injokes throughout the series (some in playful form - a few from memory - Mankiewicz's uncredited contribution to SWLM survives in a character name, Connery and Moore had the concurrent onscreen and off assistance of Hamilton and Fort Knox welcomed General Russhon!).Curiously enough, if you look at Bond's inbox (fnarr!) in CASINO ROYALE during the scene when he's sending his resignation e-mail in Venice, the subject line of another message says "stationary request",
And there's another little joke on his laptop screen: at least one of the names there is that of an Eon employee.

Do you think Craig Mitchell is one of these injokes? Would it be more obvious if it was Daniel Satsuki?

Good spot, pgam. We don't know for sure. But the confluence of those two names in this product is too close to be coincidence. That's a question to ask the writers!
