Some very nice ideas here.

My two pence worth: Bond spends two thirds of the film following a deliberately set false trail, while we see the real threat developing. Tension builds,by the time Bond finds out what is really going on the clock is really ticking and it's a race against time.

Sorry if that's a little vague, but it's late,I'm tired and there is still so much to be done...

I like the idea in theory, but I think it'd be incredibly dull if we watched the threat develope while Bond was going in another direction. A bit Pink Panther don't you think?

I'd love your idea, but let us find out Bond is going down the wrong path the same time Bond does, make it be a big "WTF" moment. I've always felt that if we know more than the main character it makes the film a bit dull (YOLT comes to mind).

Having us too far ahead of Bond runs the risk of making Bond look stupid. We should never be too much smarter than the hero of a movie. Enough to create suspense, but not enough for us to throw our Raisinets at the screem while yelling, "WAKE UP, GODDAMNIT!!!!!"

Good points both. I agree that it would be better if we were sold the dummy the same way Bond is and the revelation occurs simultaneously for Bond and the viewer. A better development. Otherwise it could indeed be more annoying than tense. Pink Panther indeed,if not pantomime..."Behind you!!" Back to the drawing board...

Oh and I for one lamented the lack of double taking pigeons in QOS. Maybe they should have a double crossing pigeon?

Did John Glenn inspire John Woo's white doves?

How about another female chief villain. But this time, let the fact that she is female almost be incidental. No "deep" relationship like there was between Elektra and Bond in TWINE. It's almost sexist, if you think about it, that the writers felt that Bond needed to fall in love with Elektra simply because she was female. I understand that Elektra was the villain-in-the-shadows, but there was no need to create a soap opera.

I would like to see a female villain who is relentless without being over the top and cartoonish. Something like Pamela Landy in the BOURNE movies, but evil and ruthless. Bond could sleep with her, but he definitely wouldn't fall in love. There could also be a proper Bond girl in the mix, but hopefully one that we can take seriously, and not someone to be the third point in a triangle with Bond and the villainness.

Barbara Broccoli, Daniel Craig and Jeffrey Wright discuss the past, present and future of James Bond

Broccoli noted that the next Bond movie will contain one of the hallmarks of the franchise's earlier films.

"The trouble is, everyone has gadgets," she commented. "We will need to come up with a few that have not been invented by the Sony Corp!"

Is it just me or is she hinting at the return of Q!?

Go, Babs, Go!

It's really a shame that TWINE usurped (lamely) the M kidnapped idea, because I think an adaptation of Colonel Sun could really work in the Craig era, especially at this point in the Bond/M relationship.

Well, heck, they could simply do it again. This is a rebooted franchise and Dench isn't even playing the same M she played from 1995 to 2002. Leastways, that's the way I see it.

Agreed. I'd personally love to see Craig in a proper COLONEL SUN adaptation.

I'm game though it is going to be in need of a bit of a revamp, it relies heavily on Cold War politics.

I'd love to see a return of old hags like Klebb or Bunt.

I haven't a clue what 'shaking things up' mean. But frankly I would be happy with a coherant script.

I thought the Quantum orgainsation was sadly underdeveloped in QOS as was the plot and the Fields and Greene character. All this could have been great but sadly they replaced it with unjustified action. 25 minutes too much. Having said this, I would rather Bond 23 be a stand alone film and then bring Quantum back for Bond 24.

What I would also like to see in Bond 23:

1) More of a personal touch - Bond in his flat off the Kings Road and maybe May, his housekeeper aswell.
2) If they bring back Q and Moneypenny they should just be more natural characters like in the books. Leave out the cheesy humour and abundance of flirtation. Q should be referred to as Major Boothroyd, just Boothroyd or/and Quartermaster.
3)We should see Bond in his own office and he should have his own secretary, Loeila Ponsonby.
4) The gadgets should be subtle and realistic like the FRWL briefcase or the signature gun in LTK.
5) The film should be atleast 2 hours.
6) Bond doing a bit of gambling in his own time.
7) Bond having lunch with M at Blades.
8) The decor of M's office resembling how it appeared pre QOS.
9) A coherent story.
10) The return of Jinx Jordan (JUST KIDDING!)

Sure, but it's no harder a task to adapt than CASINO ROYALE was. Perhaps considerably easier.
