So was Mathis innocent as he proclaimed in QOS or did he betray 007 in CR? I believe after the Aston Martin crash Le Chiffre said Mathis is my friend too.

So it was Vesper not Mathis that tipped Le Chiffre off that Bond figured out his "tell" in the card game.
