Not too far from what many said about Timothy in LTK back in the day sadly.Craig's performance in CR is one of the best Bond performance ever.
Craig's performance in QoS is the worst Bond performance ever.
Anyway, Connery will always be numero uno in my eyes, and I'm saying that despite growing up during the Brosnan era.
My problem with Craig in QoS is his lack of personality. He's just a stone-faced killing machine. Craig plays Bond well, but I really don't know where his strength lies. Is he Emo Bond? Angry Bond? Beefcake Bond? Anti-Bond? Dumb Bond? Action Bond? Maybe he is all those things, I don't know. I just think he hasn't nailed his portrayal yet.
Saying that, Connery still can be topped. Craig could do it, but let's see him inject a little life and colour into his character first.

However, Timothy Dalton was my first Bond and always will be. I proudly admit that to the point that I also declare that I didn't want Pierce Bronsan in the role. While Connery might be the cinematic Bond, Tim seems like the literary James Bond lifted from the pages and brought to life on screen. He fit the role very well.
Bronsan for me on the other hand, seemed like the return of Moore's Bond. During his tenure the press and alot of people were calling Pierce's performance a "perfect blend of Connery and Moore." (Quoted verbatim) Sadly, I just didn't see much of Connery in Pierce's performances. He's a great actor, but to be honest, he wasn't much of a James Bond as some people were praising.
As for Daniel, I believe he's a good blend of Connery AND Fleming. Everytime I watch Casino Royale I see Ian's creation brought to life as if Connery and all the others hadn't existed. I know that sounds weird, but I think that's what Barbra and Michael were looking for when they wanted to go with this new direction.
