Nice. Thanks. So we have:
- Camille Rivera
- Craig Mitchell
- Edmund Slate
- Corinne Veneau

Any confirmation on Yusef's surname? It sounded something like Kabira during the safehouse scene.

That's odd. Wikipedia - love it or hate it - is giving Camille's name as Camille Montes, and Mitchell'sfirst name was intially being reported as Henry.

About Mitchell, has his name been changed as a private joke? I mean, y'know, Daniel CRAIG, Satsuki MITCHELL... Stupid, but possible! :(

If it's true, I prefer "Montes". Not as generic as "Rivera". And despite Spanish naming traditions, it can't be "Montes y Rivera" or the other way around, because Camille is part-Bolivian, part-Russian.

Oh wait! Like Manny Rivera in Scarface!

How about Del Toro, in an homage to Benicio

So is Camille's surname mentioned anywhere in the movie?

Nope, not mentioned.

As for the reports of the character being "Henry Mitchell", that was the character name originally listed on the call sheets. They must have changed it during production. Similar to how they changed Amalric's character from being called "Maurice Green".

Her fathers full name is mentioned when Greene tells Medrano who Camille is:
"Do you remember General (or what was it) Rivera? His daughter happens to work for me"

Well actually, Camille's father in the film is referred to as Eduardo Montez (not "Ramirez", Stromberg - although he might still be supplying heroin-flavoured bananas somewhere!). There appears to be a conflict between the computer game and the film unless, of course, she takes her mother's maiden name.

She can't have. Spanish naming traditions take both the mother's name and the father's name, but they mostly go by the father's name. In Camille's case, it would be Camille Montes y Rivera. But the problem is that while Camille was originally written as being Bolivian, it was adjusted to make her half-Bolivian, half-Russian, which I suspect was due to Olga Kurylenko's native accent showing through slightly when she used her Spanish accent. Because of that, it's most likely her mother is Russian, but Russian naming traditions dictate that the family name is the masculine or feminine form of the father's surname, which would make Camille's full name Camille Montes y Montesova.

Yes, it's stated in the film that it was Camille's mother who was Russian. It seems we simply must have a contradicton between the movie and the videogame then.

What a shame. I really liked that bit in the game with M ordering Tanner to spy on Camille's phone call because "Bond will have no one else to go to." I really like it in when M actually has interactions with the Bond girls. In TWINE, she was in the room briefly with Dr. Christmas Jones. ANd we all know how she and Elektra got on. There was the brief scene with Jinx in DAD.

So, question... are there any interactions between Camille and M in QOS? Does M mention Camille at all, or refer to her in any way?

Thanks in advance.

There was?

My God, it was such a total non-entity that I'd forgotten.

Agreed. F@ck!n' hated that movie. I wonder if they'd cast Catherine Zeta Jones as Jinx if I would like it more.

Anyhow, if anyone who has seen QOS can verify if M interacts with Camille, or refers to her in anyway, that would be super-awesome...

Thanks, all...

Just a bit of rubbish trivia

It's funny that in the Aussie soap Neighbours there was a character named HENRY MITCHELL and was played by CRAIG McLachlan

I tend to agree with the Daniel and Satsuki surname theory though

Can someone please make the 19th come 'round quicker for us Aussies - lol

I don't remember M and Camille ever being in the same scene, and the only reference I can think of was M agreeing that Camille could be released after being apprehended on her return to the La Paz hotel with Bond.

Yeah there was only one scene I could think of.

M: We have the girl downstairs, she says that she's sorry, but this isn't her fight.

Bond: Let her go!

M: (To Guard) She isn't our concern.

The fact that Judi Dench actually recorded it as Camille Rivera and they officially released it as that in game form must suggest that it was something they at least considered at one point as the surname. It never quite says what her surname is in the film does it? Perhaps it is Rivera rather than Montez - after all, we don't know all of Camille's background. She might have a different surname to her father (and mother), for whatever reason.

So is Camille actually an official Bolivian agent or a just a woman with a grudge to settle and no official ties to the Bolivian Government? Please tell me she's not as Bolivian version of Bond - that so Jinx-ish and stupid.

My understanding is that she's a former Bolivian agent gone rogue, on a private feud.

Yup. The only explanation given in the movie was hers, while they flew the DC3.

Also, I don't remember the Rivera surname ever being used. I know I heard Eduardo Montes was her father. Unless she changed that while going undercover.

Her father's name was Ernesto and not Eduardo?....a former Colonel
