Anyone else think the MI-6 headquarter we saw in QOS was just plain awful?

It was the TND-design re-used again with blue boring colours all over it. Dull, dull, dull! The magic table scene was totally confusing. The editing and the quick dialouge made it almost impossible to understand what was going on. Same thing with the magic wall. They contacted CIA in less than 5 sec from that wall? How many villains in MI-6's archive can be namned Dominic Greene? We see about 10000 faces when the computer is searching. I'm sorry, but everything in M's office felt so totally confusing and clichéd.

Did Dennis Gassner really looked at Ken Adam for inspiration??? I find that hard to believe. Give me the classic M-office anyday over this. Even Lamont's style in the last films was a million times better.

Sorry about the rant, but I had to get this off my chest. Hopefully, the last time we see Gassner/MK12 in a Bondfilm.

Personally I loved the art direction of QOS. Everything was so colour coordinated and styled, unlike CR (I'll never get over how bad the Casino of the title turned out).

I thought the i-table was ruined by the editing though, definitely. That was pushing it too far. That i-table is still better than that piece of garbage Q uses in FYEO, though not by much.

Hopefully Dennis Gassner will return for Bond 23.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

I didn't have a problem with the office but I would like some old style consistency from film to film. Bernard Lee's M had a pretty consistent office throughout his tenure as M; as did Moneypenny. How many different offices are we going to get with Judi Dench--she must cost MI6 a fortune in redecorating costs!

I don't think they were all villians they were just people on the world.

I get the impression she saved MI6 alot of money on CR - that "office" looked like a rented portacabin!

I loved the office they gave TP Smith's character in QOS. That was pretty old school (and prettily photographed in the Gilbert vein).

It was interesting for one film, but I'd like to see M return to a more traditional office in the next movie. I don't care about continuity, I'll just tell myself 'Well, they were redecorating or something like that during QOS so she had to use that semi-transparent computer room.'

What was wrong with traditional? It's what we know and love.

They evidently wanted to give the film its own feel, rather than be confined to sets designed by other people for other films.

+1. Agree. And this film starts "one hour" after Casino Royale ?...

It's certainly plausible that the office could have been redesigned. It is unclear how much time elapses between Vesper's death and Bond tracking Mr White down at the end of CASINO ROYALE.

I had mixed feelings about the office. The hologram table was pretty cool, though.

I just keep telling myself that it wasn't her usual office. Just a small establishment settled in the basement.

The Casino wasnt so great......but it was meant to be grand and traditional. I wouldn't have it any other way....though who picked the wall colour.

I liked the new mi6, i hope it stays.

Indeed. Maybe the office was being redesigned during the events of CASINO ROYALE, and they merely moved in shortly before Bond and Mr. White have their lakeside confrontation. It's all fanwankery, of course, but it is what it is.

It looks very fancy and all, but where the hell is it supposed to be? A new HQ? The same building, only completely and uttelry restructured (let alone decorated) between two consecutively running film plots?

If it's a new building it would have been kind of important to say where. All this new stuff just appeared with no explanation - fine if it's a LTK-Goldeneye 6 year affair, but not when they make a deliberate attempt at a continuous storyline...
