They sum up by saying:

A true blockbuster of a game, Quantum of Solace is loud, dumb but sadly all-too-forgettable. The Bond licence goes a good way to hiding the game’s lack of ideas and for the four hours the single-player campaign lasts there’s no denying it’s a solid blast, but ultimately there’s better ways to spend your money this autumn.

Now that's a damn shame. I'll enjoy myself regardless, though.

Anyone in Europe has the game yet? If so, how is the game for Bond fans? Is it like 6.9 for non-bond fan and something like 9.0 for fans?

Pff!

I'm not going to let a review make this game a shame for me :(

I got home from the cinema to find mine had turned up from Play. Will give it a spin later and report back.

In an effort to try and collect together some of the forthcoming reviews for the Quantum of Solace game, I've turned this thread into one general review hub.

I would give the PC port of the game a 6 out of ten.

Firstly, it's far FAR too short. I hate it that games average around 4-5 hours of gameplay. That njust isn't enough.

Second, the multiplayer, while good, probably won't get the player base it needs to sustain it (games are only worth it for multiplayer if there is a community there for a long time to play it).

What else...the graphics are nice enough, but I felt the sound is fairly weak. The pistols especially could use a bit more oomph. Enemy AI seems fairly stupid too, and the QTE are a bit grating - I imagine they're a bit easier on the console (just press buttons) than they are on the PC (having to move the mouse cursor to a certain spot on the screen...which doesnt sound so bad except it slows down the cursor and makes it feel a bit lagged, so it's quite hard to get right in the small timeframe they give you to do it).

Ultimately though, as a bond fan, I'd have to give the game a bit more, mabybe 7.5 or 8. It's my favourite bond game since goldeneye, but then I do not hold any bond game since goldeneye in very high regard. As said, my main concern is with the length of the game, and second, with the lifetime of the multiplayer. Hopefully there'll be a core audience of bond fans that will stick with the game for a while to keep multiplayer alive.

My hopes are raised. Basically it's a good game, but no GoldenEye. That's fine.

I love this game! It's very COD4 yet retains enough Bond to make a great game! I'll have a full review on my site in the next week!

Most of the reviews says that it's not an FPS made for hardcore gamers, but Bond fans will enjoy... I know i will :(

I'll be reviewing as soon as gamefaqs starts taking reviews, but the game severely flawed, and ultimately no better than EAs output. 5/10, 4.5 for fans.

Not a bad game, Venice was the highlight for me but I can definitely see why people are disappointed, there really isn't all that much to it. Beat it in 3 hours and I'm about to try multiplayer.

Where do you rank it in comparison to EA's efforts, Matt?

I'm actually slowly warming up to it, the harder difficulties make the game much more fun and it is addicting, but the online multiplayer is pretty bad (you run SO fast and the aiming is poor). The game suffers from enormously being too short (beat it in three hours and I'm not a big gamer), so all in all it feels pretty much on par with Nightfire in terms of quality gameplay wise (but I really like Nightfire), but the poor cutscenes and how it's just SO short and linear really take away from it. For most it'd be a rental, but for a Bond fan I would recommend it.

I see. Upping the difficulty setting will do wonders for this game I think. If it is similiar to Nightfire, that's a pretty decent standard. I thought that was a great game.
