Review of Madonna's new DAD title song

the older bond fans may not appreciate it but nonetheless, i think madonna has come up with something very interesting.
the lyrics are quite bondian and probably correct for the context of the movie as we head from the pre-credits into the main titles
the strings harken back to bondian tradition and plays well the electronic/electro beat that accompanies the orchestral bits. i like the melody and i think its gonna be big around the dance clubs of the world.
my main complaint is that her delivery is entirely thru a vocoder and it sounds a bit 'girlish' rather than 'womanish'.
oh well, we cant have everything.
as it says
I'M GONNA BREAK THE CYCLE
I'M GONNA SHAKE UP THE SYSTEM
...
I'M GONNA DELAY MY PLEASURE
I'M GONNA CLOSE MY BODY NOW
8 out of 10 and more memorable than TWINE or TND but not as good as
AVTAK and LALD (of the up-beat songs as opposed to the ballads)
a certain number 1 to 3. in other words probably the highest charting bond since 1985.
its been too long, 007...
what do u guys think?

On one hand, you have a theme song that's taking Bond in a whole new direction.
On the other, you have a theme song that is somewhat forefeitting the traditional Bond song style.
However, I thank God for its uniqueness. It represents a new era of theme song, where we don't have to copy GF every time we want a theme song. Not that the song is perfect. Far from it, in my opinion. Too much techno and vocoder, but the song works in general. Perhaps it would've been better if a full orchestra had been used - complete with brass, but it's not essential. The one major complaint I have about the song is that it's so repetitive. It needs a decent melody!
I'd give the song a B-, or on a five-star scale, probably about a ***.

to be honest i wasn't all that impressed. YES its about time mads did a bond theme and YES she's taken it to new and dizzy heights, but i just can't see how it'll tie in with the film, as for me the credits/titles sequence is an important element in the whole bond movie experience.

i think the last good bond song was tnd, twine could have been good too but shirley mansons limited range, well, limited it.........
there are certain things you expect in this life, this is one of 'em. whatever next, pink panther style main title sequence anyone ?
oh, by the way, i hear from inside sources that it was baby rocco that wrote the lyrics, way to go kiddo !

"Wow! New song by Madonna featuring in the new Bond film!" they said.
I had wanted to hear the song 'officially'. And frankly, it sucked. I thought it was the remix, since 2Day FM always only seems to play remixes where appropriate. At first, the low roaring of the violins and the beat/clapping made me think of a tango. Then that awful thing they do where they repeat something fast with the beat, and that high pitched 'whoosh' thing. Oh man. Then came Madonna's synthesized voice. Oh. My. God. Noooooooo!
So, for the last month and a bit, I have been hearing it over and over again, every night. I have gotten used to it, and have downloaded it, and after listening to it properly, the lyrics do sound something from a Bond film. And I love the violins in the background. It's very grand and haunting.
It is a different approach, and for the 21st Century, I guess it could be appropriate. I just hope they don't do something like this for Bond 21-beyond.
I really loved the TND theme, and the TWINE theme. How come you guys don't? They're really sensual themes. Shirly Manson may not sing good with Garbage normally, but this was really good. As was Sheryl Crow with TND.
But if you want an upbeat Bond theme, nothing compares to Paul McCartney and The Wings' exhilarating theme for Live and Let Die. Great use of the orchestra and electric guitar and the bongos!

It's no secret that Madonna dabbles in the Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism). Way too complex to explain in a message.
The strap she ties on her left arm are tefillin or phylacteries (the complete set of phylacteries include small leather boxes tied on the arm and forehead which include Biblical verses), worn by devout Jews during certain religious ceremonies.
If I remember correctly the Hebrew characters are the ones that represent the word of God. Devout Jews refrain from uttering the word of God unless in prayer. Even in writing, they will break up the word, that is, "G-d" instead of "God".
Hope this explains some of what's going on. BTW, I'm not Jewish, just a lapsed Catholic.

I'm sorry, but this song is great. Not the best, but certainly can hold its own and the violin/string background is really captivating. Had they backed off on the electronica, this coud/would have been awesome.

The strings gave the sadness that fit with the torture, so the song could really have been the most fitting Bond song ever.

Well anyway I think the guys who sang that song about that blue guy (Sorry, cant remember their names) would of been the best ones to sing DAD.
DAD's lyrics convey Bond's willingness to survive the torture.

Would've been excellent without the voice changer/cutting-out-of-sound. Perhpas someone will rearrange it? More to the point: why didn't Arnold rearrange it for the end titles and use it as a theme in his score? Orchestrally, it was a good song, so I can't imagine he hated that part of it; I suspect he hated the techno bits.
