Well, this guy isn't too happy over the Bond theme. ;)

Noel Gallagher slams Bond theme choice

Noel Gallagher has expressed his outrage that the theme tune for the latest James Bond film was written by an American.

The Oasis musician said it was a "p***take" that Jack White had written the theme for Quantum Of Solace, claiming that he has composed an alternative.

"It's a p***take that the greatest British agent of all time has to be soundtracked by a bunch of :(ing Americans," he told NME.

"I've written a couple of theme tunes. They haven't got very Bond-esque titles, so I would have to tailor the title accordingly. The latest one that I wrote, I listened back to it thinking, '':)ing hell, man! That'd make a :)ing great Bond theme'."

White recently complained that his song 'Another Way To Die' is also being used in a Coca Cola advertising campaign.

Well, is it possible that Mr Gallagher is a little bit out of his depth here? The last work of any relevance by him would seem to be several years ago (some would even say: 13 years ago).

Last time I looked, rudely bashing Americans didn't make up for artistic talent. If he really had anything worth listening to, he ought to publish it and put his money where up to now he only has his mouth.

As far as I can tell, Oasis has always been the Dennis Rodman of music; someone with workman-like skills who gets immensely popular by being obnoxious.

I may have been unenthused about the choice of title song performers, but that had nothing to do with their being Americans. This is just yet another tiresome tirade from Noel Gallagher. Why do people take any notice of him or his equally obnoxious brother? They're yesterday's men.

Perhaps it's a little late to start complaining. :(

Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager didn't exactly do a shoddy job, either...

As their latest single has neither melody nor any soul or energy whatsoever (which Jack White has in abundance) this old fella really isn't worth listening to.

Personally I think the reaction Kaiser Chiefs gave to his last bit of mouthiness was perfect:

When I was 17 and Noel was going on about Blur I was watching it, and now I'm 30 and he's 50 and he's talking about us, it's brilliant.

Nice :(

Well, I actually really like 2002's HEATHEN CHEMISTRY album (which Noel was only partly responsible for the writing of), but I take your point. There's the classic Noel Gallagher/Oasis of 1994-95 (but even then not really one of the best bands of all time, IMO - merely a very good one, or, rather, a so-so band with an excellent frontman and terrific songwriter), and then there's, well.... it's been a George Lucas-type decline, really.

Seriously, though, an Oasis Bond theme could be amazing. It probably wouldn't, more likely a huge letdown. But it could be...

I guess Noel Gallagher now joins the likes of Paul Greengrass and Amy Winehouse in the club of people to really feel the wrath of Bond fans despite not actually having had any involvement with the Bond series. :(

Would it have been more or less offensive if he had said, ""It's a p***take that the greatest British agent of all time has to be soundtracked by a bunch of [censored]ing Pakis"?

Why or why not?

Obviously the right answer is that both should be equally offensive. i can't control where I was born. It was a matter of chance. It seems beyond silly for this guy to criticize terrific artists for something beyond their control.

Noel Gallagher is a legend...he says some really stupid things, but he's a legend...Definiely Maybe through Be Here Now was good...Standing on the shoulders of giants, took a different direction, but was good, Heathen Chemistry was weak, Don't believe the truth was forgetable with the exception of Lyla, and who knows how the next album will turn out. We'll find out in October...but Santa is right, an Oasis Bond song was always my dream

If you're professional, then you should stay professional. Slagging (I hate that expression) off your peers is not a good thing. Unless of course you're a politician (which comes with the territory :().

Mr. Gallagher seems pretty envious. He should join the support group featuring Amy Winehouse.

Let's face it: Oasis has had two really fantastic albums and their curse is that those two were their first ones. After 95's (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, there came a few (really very few) decent songs and truckloads of mostly forgettable stuff that has seen my player only once after buying. Even back in 97, one could see that 'Blur' and Radiohead's 'OK Computer' pretty much blasted away the relatively bland 'Be Here Now'.

More then 10 years have passed since then and the Gallaghers today are has-beens while their competitors simply moved on. Damon Albarn and Radiohead have produced some terrific stuff in the meantime while Mr Gallagher wastes time with stupid ranting and cursing. Today, I wouldn't even welcome a Bond theme by Oasis any more, as I'd rather prefer not to be let down by them again. A theme by Blur/Gorillaz or Radiohead? Anytime! By Oasis? Thank you, but no thank you.

You guys don't get it, Gallagher rants are to be expected about anything and everything, it's what make both brothers fun. I still have an old, sept 2001 issue of the NME where they say that David Beckham is sucking his girl cock, that Eminem is a :(ing baboon, and Moby a :)ing goon and mock Ben Laden as "Binliner". That's just one paragraph out of four pages of rant ! And it's way more entertaining than any interview from any current rock band anywhere going about themselves.

Now, Noel is making a good point. Bond is played by a brit, so why, for the last how many years, the title theme have only been sung by americans ? I hope next time it's Oasis turn. I, like the poster above, have been dreaming of Oasis doing a Bond theme for years. Remember, they got secret agent John Steed to star in one of their videos !

Oh, and their new album is the best since the first. Their second album is their worst. Too bad it's the one most people compare their new to ! All the others LPs may not have been as good as the first, but they all have at least four songs that enter the live gig set list and become anthems, which is four time more than any other band can produce over the course of 20 years (which is how old Oasis are). They aren't has beens, has beens doesn't fill stadiums everywhere they play.

Well, maybe one day someone will write: 'Oasis have been has-beens to many audiences until their spectacular comeback with the groundbreaking 20-- album '[enter thingummy name]' and are mentioned today along the names of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.'

But I doubt it.
