That red Cougar outside, does it belong to a lady?

CBn member FlemingFan was the temporary custodian of the 1969 Cougar that Tracy drove in OHMSS. I'll let him tell the tale...

"I HAD THE FORTUNE TO SECURE THE ORIGINAL TRACY 1969 COUGAR FROM ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE FOR A FEW DAYS (CERTIFIED BY THE VIN NUMBER).

THIS WOULD BE THE ‘PORTUGAL CAR’ THAT WAS IN THE PROLOGUE AND ALSO DRIVEN TO THE RANCH.

IT WAS SECURED FROM A COLLECTOR IN SWEDEN AND THEN SHIPPED OVER HERE. FROM HERE IS HAS GONE OFF TO CHICAGO FOR A LITTLE TUNE-AND CLEAN-UP, THOUGH NOT MUCH IS NEEDED. IT IS IN GREAT SHAPE, ONLY HAS 18,008 MILES ON IT, AND EVERYTHING STILL FUNCTIONS ON IT, INCLUDING THE CLOCK (I SOUND LIKE SOME SLEAZY SALESPERSON!). SADLY, THERE IS NO 8-TRACK PLAYER IN IT TO PLAY A ‘OHMSS’ SOUNDTRACK, BUT IT WAS A LOT OF FUN TO DRIVE IT AROUND."

Here's a photo of FlemingFan with the car...

Wouldn't mind spinning around in that for a few days.

Very cool, FlemingFan. :(

I just got the We Have All the Time in the World theme in my head when I looked at that photo. Very cool.

In case it wasn't made clear in the opening post, FlemingFan was only holding it for a collector friend. He did not buy it.

Very nice.

FlemingFan looks half Daniel Craig and half Bobby Hull.

Was wondering the same thing. Though the locks on there prove someone’s done something with the bonnet.

Congrats, FlemingFan. Nothing like cruising around in a real classic which also happens to be a piece of Bond movie history. :(

The painted black stripe was added years later by another owner, as was the rear spoiler. The car will be restored to it's original appearance per the specs shown in the film. However, the hood locks were in the film.

I wish to note that everything in the car still works, including the radio, clock, and power ragtop. After 40 years (it was made in 1968, but is a 1969 model) it has 118,008 miles on it (and counting) and not a bit of rust. There is no 8-track player in it, though, only an AM radio.

It was fun to drive.
